Carnivore Chris Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 I would argue Pele was the most iconic man in any sport, not just football, along with Ali. Also who remembers the film Victory? Classic.

Azeem Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 My list of iconic athletes in sports considers elements beyond sports. It follows the Shakespearen idea of ideal tragic hero, someone who's huge but has a tragic flaw that causes his downfall and we feel a catharsis of mixed emotions reading his story. Like Hamlet. That is why nothing tops Ali and Maradona. Imran Khan is also my top 10 because of this, imagine if Maradona became the President of Argentina and had an assassination attempt on him for challenging the U.S !

Carnivore Chris Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 "We will ask all countries in the world to name a stadium of their choice after Pele" - Infantino What a ridiculous comment. With all due respects to a legend that Pele was, if he didn't play for a club, would why they name the stadium after him when they have their own legends who pass away? He's a tool that man, Infantino.

Moderator Tommy Posted January 3, 2023 Moderator Posted January 3, 2023 The idiot is getting criticised for taking a selfie at Pele's coffin as well. How is that absolute moron still in his position?

I know it's not just any someone, of course. But it's immoral and immature to even suggest it. It's very disappointing, really. There's no need to suggest it, let alone do it in the days of his passing. Just let people mourn their hero or legend.
