There's a problem for Newcastle now selling any of their players to the Saudi League because people will always call it inflated prices/skirting FFP even if you could argue that any other Premier League club would get the same fee for the same player.

Won't see someone moaning about exploitation and inflated fees when it benefits their club though...

40-50m is not that much or unrealistic for a 26 year old with two years of club control.

he is mecurial and enigmatic but in that league he will destroy.

Yeah, he'd deliver in bag fulls over there.

I mean it's not hard to put together a conspiracy theory is it? Newcastle want Barnes but he's going to cost £40m and that'll mess up their FFP so the owners ring up their mates and manage to get them to buy an unwanted asset for more or less the same price to balance their books for them.

I'm not saying that's the exact scenario but that's what a lot of people are going to say. Impossible to prove either true or false.

someone bought That Moroccan from Chelsea for 20m, 30m for ASM is hardly a conspiracy

I mean if Anthony Gordon was worth £45m then on second thoughts, £40m for Saint-Maximin really does seem reasonable.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gordon is worth 2-3x what ASM is worth after this season.   I know the Gordon thing is touchy for Evertonian's,  he was rumored to go to Chelsea last summer for 60m then was run out the club by fans baying for blood.

His off season so far is going well, he is in a similar position to Almiron last summer,   he has worked to bulk up and improve his cardio and the results have been paying off.   He has the Euro's conditioning under his belt and was pretty good against Rangers coming off the bench.   Much like Almiron last season, Gordon has motivation in the form of silencing doubters.

As for Maxi,  he would be a good fit for Everton, who are not completely skint of talent but he would certainly be the best or thereabouts.

You can't suggest that Gordon might be worth, what are you saying like £80-90m by the end of this season!? And then make out like it's Everton fans who can't see straight when it comes to him because it's "touchy".

The lad has 8 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League in 67 appearances (41 starts) from the last two seasons. This isnt touchiness, those are just statistics. He's going to have to improve a lot this season to even look like he'll ever justify the £45m let alone be worth tens of millions more than that.

There's no way Saint-Maximin comes to Everton regardless. Too expensive and the polar opposite of what the current manager is looking for in his players.

You know by know this guy overvalues his own players, but think Newcastle are being ripped off if players they want aren't sold on the cheap?

The eco system Gordon was brought into was not condusive to development,  with a poor team,  a poor manager and a vociferous fan base it would be a lot for any prospect to deal with.   He was also far from a finished product, my guess is Everton would have loved to have kept him but the situation became untenable due to surrounding circumstances.

What player have we bought on the cheap? We tend to do most of our deals on the content because those teams tend to be more reasonable than English clubs.   The case in point was how it took two days to sign AC Milan's captain for 52m without any haggling.

We seem to have a problem dealing with Leicester because Leicester have a reputation of overselling thanks to Chelsea and Man United, while we adopted the approach that we won't be overcharged.  What has happened with Leicester since is that Leicester have not negotiated on good faith to find a compromise.

Always everyone else's fault, isn't it?

No,  it is just a symptom of a problem that may get exposed by the saudi league when they start to cannibalise all the talent.   Most of the time the offers are within the window of reasonableness,  it is not like we offered 20m for Harvey Barnes or that we didn't offer 45m and 50m for Maddison.
