Big crash at the start, Sainz tipped into a spin by another car and wipes Massa out on his way into the barriers.

Vettel passed by Verstappen and Bottas off the start line, looked like he was boxed in quite badly and his front wing looked damaged to me but he hasn't pitted.

Safety car out...

Vettel pits and changes his front wing which was damaged after he clipped Verstappen at turn one. Down to 18th but may be able to go without another stop.

Hamilton has this won now unless something odd happens. Bottas not troubling Verstappen at the moment, Kimi down in 6th.

Verstappen breaks down. Now we'll see if Bottas can challenge Hamilton. Could see a surprise podium finisher now as Ricciardo seems to be under a bit of pressure from Perez.

Amazingly strong pace from Force India today. Ricciardo looks to be struggling for some reason while Vettel is on ancient tyres, could see a Pink Panther on the podium here.

Alonso out with two laps left. Would have scored a point too. Vettel past Perez. Force India needed to let Ocon through before, could have been on the podium potentially.

Alonso - "Engine. Engine problem."

Not happy, Honda have been a disaster.

Pretty good race that, love Canada.

All the top eight or so drivers were very impressive with the exception of Raikkonen who will probably be half arsed the rest of the year knowing that Ferrari won't let him compete with Vettel.

@Cannabis favourite driver Stroll scores his first F1 points in 9th.

Perez has absolutely shafted his team today.

what happened?

Just turned on while it's half-time in football and Ocon was complaining on the radio?

Ricciardo, Perez and Ocon were 3-4-5 most of the race. Ocon had 13 laps fresher tyres than Perez. About lap 50 after Perez has been just behind Ricciardo the whole race without passing him, the team radio saying if you can't pass Ricciardo we need to let Ocon have a go, he has better tyres. Perez argues about it and apparently they agree Perez has three laps to pass Ricciardo. He doesn't, then when Ocon gets a run on him Perez blocks him aggressively and this lets Vettel get past Ocon before he eventually passes Perez too.

Had Ocon got past Ricciardo they'd have got a podium but they've ended up 5 and 6 with Perez ignoring what was effectively but not explicitly team orders.

It really is a shame that Verstappen destroyed Seb's race in the first corner. Still an amazing damage control. I'm actually happy for Stroll to get 9th position. Lewis giving him the thumbs up as he lapped him was a cool gesture.

That move against Ocon was brilliant! I wish Ferrari would have pitted him during the safety car phase, and then a bit earlier for the second stop. He would have at least gotten onto the podium.

I think his drive in Brazil 2012 that won him the championship already showed that he's got everything that it takes.

edit: Oh man, that video gives me all kinds of goose bumps.

Yeah it's just funny looking back that people thought he could only win from the front as nearly all of his victories from 2008-2011 were from pole position compared to Hamilton who had a habit of coming through the field. This was mainly because Hamilton always has a shit qualifying session in him or was picking up grid penalties for reckless driving, whereas when Vettel had the fastest car he'd consistently qualify on the front row without fuss.

I remember there was a dodgy phase for Vettel where he crashed into Webber in Turkey 2010, Button in Belgium the same year and perhaps a couple of others around the same time. Martin Whitmarsh dubbed him 'crash kid' after the Button incident but he's more than proved people wrong since.

F1's social media has become so good since Liberty Media took over. I mean, who'd have thought that we'd get stuff like this:
