As long as they don't start like last seasom where they were either brilliant and then looked weird and dropped lots of points with also that ridiculous rendering of a great lead to Juve in the Champions League. Then yes. But fundamentally what looks to be happening from what's being seen during pre-season is that Diego Simeone has changed things completely. It looks like he's finally found the manner to get the team functioning in a more dynamic manner and in truth there have been glimpses of this over the last two campaigns but for some odd reason he (El Cholo) would then revert to the usual style which as we all know is heavy to watch and seemingly to play against for opponents. The issue with that typical Simeone style is that if the defence doesn't function to perfection which it has done more times than not since he became coach, then they lose or draw silly games. They do look very very good indeed! But this João Félix is no flash in the pan. I don't care if he only had 6 months at the top end last season for Benfica... What he subsequently showed was the reason he was the talk of Europe and why Atleti forked out so much money. This kid has got it all and he can play with either foot too from what I've been witnessing. That feature is so valuable if on top of everything you're as talented as he is. He may have been very expensive and even more so for his age, but boy does this look like a coup for Atlético Madrid.

I watched them against Real Madrid and it was very noticeable how they changed the way they attack. Very refreshing when compared to the past few seasons. Félix has got a goal in him as well which is gold.
Carnivore Chris Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 La Liga certainly needs its stars now that C.Ronaldo has recently left the league, Iniesta and Xavi retired and you can even mention Neymar himself, who would have been one of La Liga's stars now. Players like Joao Felix, Hazard and De Jong will all be welcomed additions to the Spanish League.
Pep Talk Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 So who is covering la Liga this year so can actually see him play?
6666 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Only saw a little of Joao Felix at Benfica and only seen a little of him at Atletico but he seems to have everything. Good passer, good dribbler, makes good runs, knows how to shoot and doesn't play with any fear.
SirBalon Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Some in Spain are comparing him with Kaká and others with Paulo Futre... For me he is a mixture of both as he is even more direct and fearless than those two legends.
Spike Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 He looked a little jittery against Getafe, he ever tripped over his own feet at one point.

Could be down to eagerness and a will to eat the world from the word go. As he matures, he will learn to harness the talent he has. The crazy thing is that he really believes this is a game to have fun in and that carries with it something special in my eyes.
