Nice of them to lobby for us to host it.

Azeem Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 This makes no sense geographically, logistically, commonsensically
Redcanuck Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Don't really care for the fans do they? Imagine having to follow your team on three continents.

If that's what they do it's not to bad, other than the teams fans who have to play Uruguay in Montevideo and then fly back to Europe. The articles says games in three South American countries, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Montevideo in Uruguay, the city which hosted the first World Cup match in 1930, is poised to stage the opening game in 2030 with matches in Argentina and Paraguay to follow. The rest of the 48-team tournament will then move to north Africa and Europe. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67010609

Redcanuck Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 So the 3 games played in South America, will they involve Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay all playing at home providing all three qualify against a non South America team? Or will they involve the three host teams Spain, Portugal and Morroco playing against whoever is drawn in their groups?
Redcanuck Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Seems all 6 countries will get automatic qualifucation.

However Morocco and Paraguay may well not of. I do wonder of one day countries and teams might break away from fifa because of all the greed and corruption. It would be hard but I think it could be done. Interesting thing is a lot of the corruption started in 1978 when all the money got into fifa. I doubt there has been a world cup since that hasn't had dodgy voting because of bribes.
ScoRoss Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 An absolute cop out by FIFA. Either the South American bid was good enough to host it fully or not at all.
Whiskey Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Convinced World Cup 2044 will be played on Mars and Neptune at this rate.
Dr. Gonzo Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 So the next World Cup is North America. The World Cup after that is Europe, Africa, and South America even though nobody asked for that. So now Asia has to host the World Cup 12 years from now… and only Saudi Arabia bid for it was the only country ready to put a bid forth short notice. Nothing dodgy about that at all

Nothing dodgy about that at all Yeah apparently Australia were considering it but they couldn't meet the criteria. I think that criteria was how much dirty money can you pay us and they couldn't match Saudi because they have more morals and decency about them and don't want to mix with the corruption.

Neptune doesn't have a surface. Could play it on Mercury,Venus and Mars. Venus gets a bit hot in the summer though so might have to play it in the winter. Also rains acid so players might have to wear protective cream.

I'd imagine by then we'd have fucked the planet up so much we would be able to breath in pretty much anything. If the players put on some extra weight that should help with the low gravity
