  3. It's amazing that we live in a time where anyone can have breakfast in bed and watch ISS astronauts having a spacewalk live This is also a great livestream that streams live HD Earth views as seen from the Space Station; it's breathtaking (make sure to choose HD in options and go fullscreen!)

  5. I keep coming back to the live video, put it on HD and full screen, sit back on this sofa and watch the Earth from Space and keep thinking I am down there somewhere right now and knowing the astronauts are up there floating around in their Space Station and looking down at Mother Earth, breathtaking.

  6. The Mysterious Star KIC 8462852 Apr 19, 2018 Tabby's Star's dimming could be signs of an alien civilization. The Allen Telescope Array searches radio frequencies to investigate this strange behaviour. Allen Telescope Array credit: Seth Shostak By Seth Shostak, Senior Astronomer The SETI Institute is following up on the possibility that the stellar system KIC 8462852 might be home to an advanced civilization. This star, slightly brighter than the Sun and more than 1400 light-years away, has been the subject of scrutiny by NASA’s Kepler space telescope. It has shown some surprising behaviour that’s odd even by the generous standards of cosmic phenomena. KIC 8462852 occasionally dims by as much as 20 per cent, suggesting that there is some material in orbit around this star that blocks its light. For various reasons, it’s obvious that this material is not simply a planet. A favoured suggestion is that it is debris from comets that have been drawn into relatively close orbit to the star. But another, and obviously intriguing, possibility is that this star is home to a technologically sophisticated society that has constructed a phalanx of orbiting solar panels (a so-called Dyson swarm) that block light from the star. To investigate this idea, we have been using the Allen Telescope Array to search for non-natural radio signals from the direction of KIC 8462852. This effort is looking for both narrow-band signals (similar to traditional SETI experiments) as well as somewhat broader transmissions that might be produced, for example, by powerful spacecraft. But what if ET isn’t signalling at radio frequencies? Our ATA observations are being augmented by a search for brief but powerful laser pulses. These observations are being conducted by the Boquete Optical SETI Observatory in Panama, part of a nascent global network of optical SETI observatories. Both the observations and the data analysis are now underway. Once the latter is concluded, we will, of course, make them known here and in the professional journals. On the basis of historical precedent, it’s most likely that the dimming of KIC 8462852 is due to natural causes. But in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, any suggestive clues should, of course, be further investigated – and that is what the SETI Institute is now doing. https://www.seti.org/seti-institute/mysterious-star-kic-8462852

  7. How about this, this is my current wallpaper on this Laptop (I change it every so often) The story behind this screenshot... Astronomers Have Spotted Something Very, Very Strange Surrounding A Distant Star Since its first light in 2009, the Kepler Space Telescope has been scanning the cosmos in search of habitable worlds beyond our Solar System. During its routine observations, the telescope observed something very unusual. Nestled between the constellations Cygnus and Lyra, sits a strange and intriguing star. Kepler is designed to observe stars and look for tiny dips in their brightness. These dips, especially if they repeat, can be a sign the star has one or more planets orbiting it. By measuring the timing and the size of the dips, scientists can learn a great deal about the transiting planet. The data is then processed automatically by computers with algorithms designed to look for repeating patterns – a sign that something is orbiting the star.

  9. Still good though... I just use my camera and although they come out fairly clear they are obviously very limited, the amount of times I went in for some close up's of stuff that look clear and end up being blurry is annoying.. This is the sort of thing I snap round the garden... This was when I was doing the garden project..

  10. Science & Environment Fossil preserves 'sea monster' blubber and skin By Paul Rincon Science editor, BBC News website 1 hour ago Scientists have identified fossilised blubber from an ancient marine reptile that lived 180 million years ago. Blubber is a thick layer of fat found under the skin of modern marine mammals such as whales. Its discovery in this ancient "sea monster" - an ichthyosaur - appears to confirm the animal was warm-blooded, a rarity in reptiles. Its skin also resembles that of modern whales and dolphins, having lost the scales characteristic of its ancestors. The researchers say the skin was smooth, still somewhat flexible, and retained evidence of the animal's camouflage pattern.

  12. I posted it in mid-November mate... Its how the media have manipulated people for over 25 years with total and absolute lies as one can see with the newspaper headlines. An agenda, a form of conditioning which worked. The curious thing is that not one of those headlines has anything on immigration which would take up too much bandwidth for this thread to cope with. Many will exclaim they haven't been manipulated by all of that and more, but common sense will tell us they have.

  13. I was at Stamford Bridge for the Fulham game and watched a recording of the game this morning. Best said early, I wish I hadn’t bothered attending as it was a poor game. There really isn’t much to say about our teams performance against Fulham other than we were poor for most of the game. Our keeper should be credited with the win over the draw Fulham could quite easily gained from their high press performance. If nothing else it was good practise for the City game coming next weekend as Ranieri had his players all over our midfield forcing Luiz to be the outman from the back where he more often or not pushed the ball through to our forward players who only kept possession around 40-50% of the time. While our defenders managed to keep hold of the ball while being forced to play keepball from pretty much our goal line, you could sense the crowd were none too confident we would get through the 90mins without a mishap. The question of Jorginho’s importance to us now the managers tactics have been sussed is something anyone with an ounce of football intelligence is very interested to see what happens. I was a bit far from our bench during the game to hear Sarri, but those closer have said he was in Jorginho’s ear all of the first half telling him to move about to release himself from his marker. Kovacic was his normal nonentity and should have been removed from the pitch much earlier. To be frank, it was insulting to the other players that he started. Remember, he isn’t our player. Congrats to Reuben Loftus-Cheek. It was a perfect game for him to be introduced. Inferior opposition who were committed to find a equalizer. A couple of good moments of him moving forward with the ball always catches the eye of those who believe him to be the full shilling. We can feel sure the only reason he got the outing is because Barkley is carrying a knock. @carefreeluke pointed out on this board to watch Alonso’s first half performance to see what is wrong with his play and I have to say it’s a fair example of him at his weakest. Interesting he got pulled by the manager. It seems like it’s the kiss of death for anyone who signs a new contract with this manager. “Jorginho is undroppable for Sarri”, never a truer word could be said by @True Blue. I agree its about time Fabregas gets a go in that position, something I feel sure @carefreelukewould agree with. Fingers crossed for a good Sopcast stream for the Wolves game and hot breaking news we have Forest at home in the FA Cup!

  14. Just watched a replay of today's game on a fairly decent stream and I have to say that Fabinho is going to be an absolute beast for us. Klopp yet again choosing the perfect time to bed a new player into an already very good team. Him, Gini and Salah were all excellent today. A full week to prepare for Arsenal which I think might be our biggest test so far this season. If we get through that game with all 3 points I'll have to start thinking that we have a chance of winning the league or come very close. The standard of the top 6 in this league though is so high that even finishing in the top 4 is a challenge in itself.
