  1. I like how @CaaC (John)'s just guessed that @nudge might know the answer... and then she's gone and given a really good answer. nudge is officially the TF365 science teacher

  4. The tension with French government were already spiked when Macron made some remarks about Islam/Muslim World being in crisis prior to these events ( which is ironic since he's supporting a lot of MENA tinpot dictators warlords who create these crisis ) I agree with what you said it's only serving to the agenda of us vs them. Personally i see Macron as a dickhead in all this. The likes of Erdogan are cashing on it. And trolling at governmental level has also brought an emotional response from Muslim community, they again as a whole community have to be apologetic/targetted about that one fucked up guys act. I can only see future generations suffer because of this.

  5. It's also a team from a northern port city... and as someone from a northern port city that found out I've got other family from another northern port city in Iran... I guess there's a feeling of solidarity or something plus that fucking logo is so cool

  6. That logo is badass! Would definitely choose that over a massive club that wins every time. That's boring af!

  7. They are currently in the fourth research phase, evaluating how much money can be earned from TV rights and, more importantly, how the spots in European competitions would be distributed. I believe now both Dutch and Belgian leagues have 5 spots each, and are unwilling to have only 5 spots available after a merger. UEFA, on the other hand, is unwilling to give the new league more than that, so it's complicated.

  8. True! But really Mahdavikia is my Iran national team hero and he only played 15 games for Damash... Persepolis was his side. Bandar e Anzali's team is Malavan and they have a club logo that I actually find to be quite amusing, so I'm pretty open to them being my "official" Iranian side, even over Persepolis (if they ever get back into the top flight and I can see their matches ). I don't know why I like this logo so much (I mean, yeah I do... it's the swan)... but I think it's great maybe a stupid reason to pick a football team to support? Or maybe the best reason. and their stadium only holds 8,000. Compared to Persepolis/Esteghal who play at Azadi stadium that's absolutely massive. I think I'd prefer to support a tiny Iranian side with an amusing logo, so hopefully they get back up ASAP so I can see their matches more.

  9. There was an explosion at a school in Pakistan: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/27/pakistan-blast-at-seminary-in-peshawar-kills-injured ...meanwhile, the Pakistani government is joining much of the Islamic world's governments in being outraged about cartoons being projected onto buildings in France. And don't get me wrong, I think trolling Islamic extremists is giving into their idea that there is a culture war between Muslims & non-Muslims - which sort of serves to prove their propaganda right. And maybe resorting to an official government stance of trolling isn't the smartest thing to do - but I do think that France has been dealing with this bullshit for long enough and it's understandable that so many citizens and the government would have a really emotional response to this happening AGAIN in France - but this time in a pandemic. Sort of boggles my mind how many official government statements have denounced how France has reacted as though the biggest victim out of recent events isn't the man who very literally lost his head.

  10. Theoreticaly, you can. But most naturally ocurring whirlpools in the rivers are way too small and have way too little power to be a viable large-scale solution, nevermind other potential issues such as freezing water in winter, debris, trash, etc. The big powerful ones in the oceans have the same issues as other existing marine technology, namely expensive and difficult installation, high maintenance and repair costs, challenges related to the bottom surface, gravel, sand, salt, corrosion, debris etc. Whirlpools in oceans are also highly dependent on the tides, so it's not a very stable source either.

  11. It's pretty fucked now. We have had rising infection rates, but people have pretty much gone into panic mode, where like 3 days after new measures, everyone starts calling for more measures even though it's impossible to notice the effect of the original measures within that timespan. If we were to go into full lockdown, it would be the first time this happens in the country, as the previous 'lockdown' and the current one have both been partial lockdowns, where much of the measures were based on advice rather than strict legislation. Still, I don't think it will ever be in countries like France and Italy where you basically have martial law. However, as it looks now, it seems as if the full lockdown is not being considered by our government, which, to its credit, doesn't often cave to the pressure of taking extra measures just because people are panicking. The issue with a full lockdown now is that it would just postpone the problem a few months at best, and wreck tons of businesses in the process. The past months have shown that our testing has not proven adequate enough to be able to handle subsequent infections locally, so this would mean having to lock the country down periodically until there is a vaccine, which is obviously bonkers. I dunno about this shit anymore. When I see people out there walking by themselves in parks while wearing mouth masks, I get the idea that a lot of this is just about giving ourselves the illusion that we're able to control the virus.

  12. Love it. I'll trade you an equally entertaining piece of literature on AI and in particular a case-study in law for the UK. https://www.pinsentmasons.com/out-law/news/uk-patent-applications-ai-inventors

  13. @Mel81x thought you might enjoy this: https://towardsdatascience.com/how-to-create-an-agent-based-simulation-model-37bd7b4b0da7 This probably isn't the right thread, wasn't sure where else to post it though; basically one fella created a computer model to simulate passenger happiness based on the conditions on the Snowpiercer. Nothing groundbreaking, but an interesting idea and experiment

  14. Whilst I agree with his sentiment, the bloke is just being a bellend for the sake of 5 minutes internet fame and it’s totally backfired on him. ‘Look at me! I’ll get my mates to film me ripping all the stuff because I’m well hard and people will love me’.
