tlr
Say what you want about cricket but I have never, ever known nerves like that; only managed to listen to it today but fucking hell it almost killed me. For England to get progressively further behind the total, redeem it all in the final over helped by a monumental slice of luck; set a decent total in the super over, then stare well and truly down the barrel for the final for the final four balls only to win it not on the actual score and only by a matter of inches on the very last ball of the tournament is ridiculous. Not watching it or belittling it because England doesn't give a shit - it does, played in every village in the country and by a hell of a wider demographic than most other national sports - is their loss.

An absolutely stunning hour of cricket Agreed. Said on Twitter to someone it's an absolute must the Ashes, at the very least, becomes free to air. How can the next generation be inspired by it if it's not as easily accessible? A kid watching today whether at the ground or watching on TV would have been so sucked in to the emotion even before winning it. More tournaments need to be on free to air TV. Especially when it culminates in a game like today.

Danny
What an amazing game, edge of your seat once in your life sporting moment. New Zealand fought so hard and in reality lost in a manner in which I think every England fan expected us to. That 6 from Ben Stokes, sheer luck but sometimes it’s what you need. It doesn’t matter how you win as long as you win. Very happy for Archer, so young and he was very much an outsider to the team at the beginning of all of this. But none of the top nations in Football play cricket or Rugby (or take seriously)...half the top nations in Cricket barely play football and if they do they don’t take it seriously, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan are hardly renowned for playing Rugby either Great that we won the World Cup, but we only have 2-3 consistent rivals in 2 of those sports. Celebrating that we’re the only team to win a World Cup in all three sports that we created and then shipped around the globe to different pockets where no one else takes all 3 as seriously as we do is genuinely mental
Azeem
As mentioned earlier that Cricket has gained some new nations globally which is great but some countries have also been lost in the wilderness like Zimbabwe, South Africa and Sri Lanka need to address some serious issues with their Cricket. Even i was unsure about our Cricket teams future before this tournament. and i hope ICC handle Afghanistan and Ireland better than they did with Kenya, they also had a promising start to their Cricketing prospect but their trajectory didn't hit the mark as their early promise to the point that they are now nowhere on competitive level. For all Germany’s footballing skill they’ve not got the domestic talent pool competeing with rival sports to contend with. Adide from the olympics these are the 3 big world cups, we’ve won all. Therefore no other nation can say that they’re as good as the English when it comes to team sports, if they do I’ll say “win the big 3 and we can talk”

Just because you English have this three as their main sports, doesn't mean this has to be the case for everyone, you see.
