Coronavirus & The Premier League

Recommended Posts

The five subs are due to stay to end of the 20/21 season. I don’t really get why, if I’m honest. It’s not as though there are conditions to it, like you need amount of players under the age of or amount of players on the bench who have come through your academy.

The Premier League's system seems to be effective but they've done their own thing and nobody else in the pyramid can realistically afford to do it.

Cambridge had about 1000 fans in a week or two back and it was apparently a total success, the first club in the country to be allowed to trial it. There was all sorts of quirky little shite they'd put in place as extra precautions like the sauce dispensers next to the hot dog and burger vans being operated by a pedal instead of having to pick them up and put your germs all over them. They were due to try and get about 2000 in at the next game but with the infection rates rising wholesale it could be up to another full season before we get crowds of any number back into the stadiums.

Boro also had 1000 fans in at the weekend, which is them back to normal attendances

Wonder if we will see the ‘cancel the season’ brigade out in force again? Or was it nearly entirely motivated by trying to stop Liverpool winning the league?

Depends how many points clear Liverpool are as we head into winter

They should have cancelled the season on Saturday night, can't believe it's still going on to be honest. Irresponsible.

All teams have to play equal games otherwise it's unfair.

In all seriousness, did the clubs vote on what would happen if the season had to be stopped again or have I made that up?

I'm not sure they did.

In other news, Liverpool vs Arsenal could be moved to 8pm on Monday so that pubs can show the whole game and customers aren't kicked out before FT.

Bad luck if there's lots of stoppage time or delays...

It has been moved. So the premier league will move games for the cling on fans who watch in the pub but won’t for the real, and only fans, who go the game. Disgraceful but quite funny in its brazen honesty.

9 more positive tests in the last week. Wonder how many are from West Ham/Liverpool?

Quote

The Premier League has confirmed there have been nine positive coronavirus cases recorded in the latest round of testing.

It comes after 10 positive cases were confirmed from last week's testing in the English top-flight, the highest number in any round of Premier League testing so far.

A statement read: "The Premier League can today confirm that between Monday 28 September through to Sunday 4 October, 1,587 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19. Of these, there were nine new positive tests.

"Players or club staff who have tested positive will self-isolate for a period of 10 days.

"The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency.

"No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing."

The figures last week included West Ham boss David Moyes, and Hammers players Issa Diop and Josh Cullen.

One of the first PL games after next week's lifting is Tottenham vs Arsenal...
