It probably is carnage though. Whether it happens on any given night out or not doesn't make it any less carnage today.

Seen some 'carnage' down Leicester Square today as well.

Suppose its the downside to having an 8pm kick off. Plenty of hours for people to get tanked up in any way they choose.

Sorry but to me 'carnage' is something like the 2011 riots where I felt unsafe not leaving the house, not some pissed up blokes throwing a traffic cone about.

Maybe, just maybe, he didn't mean just that by itself.

I've not seen anything on social media today you wouldn't see at a Man Utd/Liverpool derby or a Newcastle/Sunderland one.

Like I said, doesn't make it any less carnage just cos you've seen it before at a local Derby.

And it doesn't make it actually carnage, just because you keep saying it is?

This is a nation that's rioted over football matches though, a few bottles being thrown and a bit of mess between probably fans of rival domestic clubs is not bloody carnage.

Just an opinion that I think it is.

It's not that big of a deal what it's labelled though.

Shitty behaviour, bit of mess, drunken behaviour, whatever.

So far my analysis says It's

20% who genuinely dislike English team

25% who don't but the cringe English fanbase makes them to detest them

15% English fans who are paranoid that everyone hates them.

30% genuine Italy fans, don't love or hate England

10% who just are ok with any of the team to win

It's shitty behaviour, but it's not anything that any of us couldn't have foreseen. And it happens in other countries during major tournaments, see Euro 2016 and Russia 2018 or Brazil 2014 (where an Argentinian fan got shot, which to me is rather more 'carnage' than some bottles being thrown)

This game is likely getting too big for England. Just seeing all the fans at the hotel for the team leaving. Keeping focus and staying grounded is going to be a challenge in itself.

God knows how Gareth Southgate is going to 'shield the lads from what's going on in the country in a protective bubble' after the past 48-72 hours.

Wondering why there's so much carnage early on in the day

Because it's an 8pm Sunday kick off and most of those fellas have been drinking since either Wednesday night if they aren't working or Friday night if they are.

There's a reason lots of UK derbies got held on early kick offs.
