All month both clubs have had and it boils down to the final seconds of the window and collapses Every single time. Liverpool probably haven't planned to try and get this one done this month but interest from others has seen them make their move late in the window. Nevertheless it seems Liverpool have put themselves in a good position to sign him in the summer.

We won't have wanted to sign him now and essentially give 6 months of his contract back to Fulham. I'm sure an agreement is already in place for the summer where he joins us then and we get the full 5 years of his contract.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted February 1, 2022 Subscriber Posted February 1, 2022 To think Rondon only has 18 months left on his contract and you didn't go in for him either. Disastrous deadline day for Liverpool all round.
Dr. Gonzo Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 David Lynch saying that a deal has been struck between us and Fulham for him to move in the summer, but rather than pay a tribunal we pay the fee we were going to pay in January. Lynch is fairly reliable, but as with all Liverpool news... it's a good idea to wait for Joyce and Pearce as they're probably the most reliable LFC journos out there.

I'm not so sure, tbh - I dunno what the tribunal fee was for Harvey Elliott but for Ings it was pretty large I think. Maybe they'd like a guaranteed amount rather than putting things in the hands of a tribunal? Hope it goes through though, seems to be the right kind of young player to do well with us... but I feel with how well he's doing this season at Fulham it would be a shame to derail him by taking him away from the good situation he's in right now - which is probably beneficial to his development as a player. What on Earth is a tribunal fee? Is that Roman Republican tax system?

When a player under 24 moves clubs after their contract has expired there's a group of people that gather up and hear evidence from both clubs (and in the Danny Ings case, Spurs allegedly submitted evidence saying they would have paid a shitload for Ings to bump up the price for us for some reason) and come up with a non-negotiable fee that the club that signed the player has to pay the club that lost the player. I think Ings has the record tribunal fee, Chelsea paid £6.5m to City when he joined them. That one used to be the record until Ings. Why do tribunal fees exist? I'm not sure tbh. I think we paid Fulham a bit under £5m for Harvey Elliott so it looks like they want at least £5m for Carvalho.

Got a fair bit wrong recently. Paul Joyce only ever tweets when he's got concrete info

It would take a period of adapting given Fulham play a possession based 4-2-3-1 and he naturally drifts in to the number 10 role even if he's out wide but I was impressed with how Harvey Elliot adapted his game to be a CM that drifted out right to link up Trent and Salah before his injury. Wont he be more expensive in the summer now the move broke down?
Lucas Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 18 minutes ago, Liver-Barca said: Wont he be more expensive in the summer now the move broke down? No, he is out of contract in the summer and I doubt you'd have to pay much more than what you were going to at a tribunal. The only difference will be to expect more competition for his signature, especially if others attempt to offer more wages/guarantee of first team football. In fairness, Fulham may already have an agreement in principle with Liverpool and the I's and T's just need dotting and crossing end of the season.

Lucas Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 He's a great talent that I believe will easily quadruple in value, probably even more to be frank. So the fee is an absolute steal really. What's exciting for Liverpool fans is I don't think they realise the kind of talent they have on their hands here and with the right nurturing, he could be very explosive as soon as next season. I've no doubts he will fit this level as well as Harvey Elliott has found it.
LFCMike Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 Where does he fit into the Liverpool team? Am I right that he's a number 10 at Fulham? Could he play as one of the midfield three as Elliott has done or are we more likely to see him as a front three player?

Some people have suggested he might fit in the Firmino role rather than as a midfielder. I know fuck all about him other than his highlight real looks very impressive for someone that young though.
Dave Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 It will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp moulds him. He's done a good job changing Harvey Elliott's role and given he's been used often in a free role for Fulham roaming in the number 10 position there's quite a big blank slate for Jurgen to work with over the next couple of years.
