Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted September 7, 2022 Author Subscriber Posted September 7, 2022 Results - Dutch Grand Prix @MUFC Sorry mate but I'm not going to void an entire round because one person was unable to predict. I understand it's harsh but in future I'd suggest getting some placeholder predictions in early and then editing them at your usual time between third practice and qualifying. Across the rest of the field, everyone apart from @nudge backed Max Verstappen to take pole position and the race victory at his home Grand Prix, scoring them 10 points apiece. @nudge at least bags a couple of consolation points for putting Verstappen elsewhere in the top three. Nobody predicted a George Russell podium this week so the rest of the points come from Charles Leclerc's top three finish. @Tommy and @Whiskey were the only ones to get Charles exactly correct in 3rd place, nudging them into the position of joint top scorers in a close week. @RandoEFC, @Coma, @Stan and @OrangeKhrush take 2 points apiece for predicting a 2nd-placed finish for the Monegasque. This week's random driver Sebastian Vettel finished in 14th place. Nobody predicted a top 10 finish for the German, or his exact finishing position, but @DeadLinesman's prediction of 13th was closest and it bags him a pair of extra points. Finally, Mercedes' alternate strategy saw Lewis Hamilton lead several laps of the Dutch Grand Prix, taking a total of 14 laps away from the hometown hero on which the bonus question was based. Max Verstappen ended up leading a total of 58 laps, meaning that nobody was within the margin of 5 laps required to score five full points. @nudge and @OrangeKhrush hedged their bets as far down as 65 laps, meaning that they were closest to the correct answer and pick up 2 points each. What that does for the table: A solid score of 12 sees @DeadLinesman hang onto his lead at the top, cancelling out @RandoEFC, but @Tommy's 15 points sees him regain 2nd place and move within 7 points of the top of the standings. @MUFC, dogged by forum issues, slips into the midfield battle and is now level on points with in-form @Whiskey. A poor week for @nudge sees her drop to 6th, while @OrangeKhrush makes marginal gains on @Coma ahead and @Stan behind him.

Whiskey Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Absolutely livid that I keep putting Mercedes in my Top 3 to try and make some ground in the midfield battle, dropping points in doing so yet when I take them out George lobs it in P2. Happy that I got a good score overall though, nice weekend for me.

I get where you coming from but surely this isn't something which you really plan for? Maybe if repeated the sequence but it's the first time this has happened.

It would be unfair to void this round though because one person left it late to predict, or to score you higher than someone who did submit predictions.

I never really left it too late as the site went down on Friday night or Saturday morning.

Fine with giving @MUFC 4pts but agree the round shouldn't be voided as there was ample time to predict and it's just a choice that is made to predict as close to qualifying as possible.

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted September 11, 2022 Author Subscriber Posted September 11, 2022 Results - Italian Grand Prix Quite the large spread of scores this weekend but first thing's first. Well wishes to @MUFC who didn't make any predictions this weekend, missing the Italian Grand Prix due to appendicitis. Get well soon! Qualifying predictions followed a familiar pattern with no money going anywhere other than on Verstappen or Leclerc. However, the Ferrari driver came out on top for the first time since the summer break, meaning that #1 loyalist @nudge started the weekend with 5 points, along with @RandoEFC and @Whiskey. @RandoEFC and @nudge both backed Charles Leclerc to convert pole into victory on Sunday, but had to settle for 4 points for their Leclerc-Verstappen combo in reverse order of the race result. @RandoEFC boosted his Sunday profits with an extra 5 points, though, as the only one to predict a George Russell podium at all ahead of his 3rd placed finish. The rest of the field correctly predicted a fifth consecutive race win for Max Verstappen, with @OrangeKhrush, @DeadLinesman and @Whiskey all combining this with Leclerc in 2nd place for a perfect 1-2 prediction. @Tommy, @Coma and @Stan all had Leclerc in 3rd place, meaning they had to settle for 7 points each for their podium picks. Daniel Ricciardo's late retirement robbed @Whiskey of the chance to claim all 5 points for the random driver question, as Valtteri Bottas was boosted from 14th to 13th at the chequered flag. @DeadLinesman, who missed out by one place on the other side, therefore takes 2 consolation points for this section as well. The late shake-up to the order also saw @Coma, @Stan and @OrangeKhrush robbed of 5 points for the bonus question, that instead went to @RandoEFC, @Tommy, @DeadLinesman and @Whiskey, as Guanyu Zhou filled the gap in the top ten vacated by the stricken McLaren, taking the total number of Alpha Tauri and Alfa Romeo cars in the points to 2. Here's what that all does for the table: @DeadLinesman avoids serious damage once again with a very solid score of 17, meaning that @RandoEFC only closes the gap by 2 points. It's @Tommy's turn to occupy 3rd place for a week before inevitably returning to 2nd place after the next race. @Whiskey is the top scorer for the second race running, and his 22 points is the highest posted by anyone since the Spanish Grand Prix. A potential outsider for the title? @MUFC has been granted the 4 insurance points promised last week but his absence sees him fall to within 1 point of @nudge behind him in the middle of the pack. @Coma is finally overtaken by one of the long-standing bottom pair as @OrangeKhrush was the only of the bottom three to hit double figures this week. And @Stan sits last.
Moderator Tommy Posted September 11, 2022 Moderator Posted September 11, 2022 This is getting manipulated, man.
