The bridges pretty much stayed the same. :o

It's all the fucking same!!!.... xD it has even managed to retain that medieval poo wash right down the middle.. When you consider how much change Dubia had in just 15 years and yet in over 100 years all we have managed to do is build one big pointy building on the right and one that resembles a giant Braun shaver on the left... Oh, and a fairground ride.. What a pile of shite!!

As a person that grew up here in the early 80s to late 90s the transformation was unbelievable. When the tower came it literally lit up two blocks in all directions. Crazy what that place was and what it turned into. Dubai on the other hand is the same shit-hole it has always been.

During my army days in the early 1970s when I was courting my now wife, jump on a train from Dortmund and travel to Hamer and spend the weekend with her uncle & aunt and go out to die örtliche Kneipe auf einen drink.

Many main train stations in Germany were destroyed in WWII and were replaced by absolutely horrible looking post-war buildings. Which makes sense because it had to be quickly and cheaply rebuilt. Still a shame though.

Düsseldorf's main train station is an eye sore as well.

Does anyone know where I can get old pictures of my street and surrounding areas for free?

Go into Google Maps type your address in then you can zoom in on your house and street, I have just found the house I lived in from 1956 until we emigrated to Australia in 1959.
