Brentford have proven to be better at sustaining pressure than Chelsea or Leicester in our recent wins so fair play to them.

But we could have been 2-0 up with eleven men here if we'd have been given that penalty. I know I'm going to say it should have gone my side's way but the neutral opinion seems to favour that as well. Might have got the penalty later on but it's the red card that's killed us here.

Don't know what to say anymore. Rodri's handball, Allan's red card and three match ban, the Gordon non-penalty at Anfield and this today. There were others earlier in the season as well. A penalty against Spurs that got overturned despite the replays showing Lloris contact with Richarlison. Even half of those decisions go the other way and we'd be safe by now. Now we have to beat Palace to be assured of it.

Doesn't help either having Mina, Godfrey and Keane all out injured at this vital juncture. Look at the state of our back four here ffs.

Every team can go back and think like this. It's not just Everton

Biggest myth going the evens itself out thing. I'm not saying it's just us but it's been our turn this season.

Rondon sent off. Pretty stupid lunge. At least it isn't a key player.

Lol that first red card is so shockingly bad from Oliver, it’s hard to believe I used to think he was the best ref in the country.

He was last man wasn’t he?

I didn't mention anything about evening things out. Every team can point to decisions that were probably incorrect though was my point.

Neither of the red cards are in dispute. What's in dispute is that we should have had a penalty immediately before the first red card, probably gone 2-0 up and still had a full team instead of a one goal lead playing 70 minutes with ten men.

I can't be fucked with it at this point in the season. These officials just make totally random and inconsistent decisions, pretend that isn't true and face no accountability. Then a manager dares to level mild criticism at them and they're the ones that end up getting investigated and sanctioned.

This is why the Leicester win was so massive though. We gave ourselves three chances to finish the job and we still have one left. Two more points needed with two games left is the worst case scenario. Three weeks ago we were five points inside the relegation zone with six games left.

Just got to go and beat Palace and hope that if the referee on the night decides they're going to intervene then it happens to our advantage. It all evens out apparently after all. Otherwise we're relying on Burnley or Leeds to keep being shit a couple more times.

Ultimately a much deserved win in the end. A game of big decisions and one of which kept Everton in the game momentarily.

The Richarlison shirt pull just wasn’t a foul, the ruling is that you have to pull the player, not just the shirt. Ajer barely had any force in holding Richarlison’s shirt, simply didn’t pull Richarlison away by use of his shirt and not a foul.

The first red Toney is definitely playing for it, but very naive from Brathwaite to go for it. Not the only naive centre back today with Mads Bech doing his best to give Everton a point.

Richarlison’s penalty for me was just not a foul, contact doesn’t mean you’ve been impeded and it was the case there. Felt Mads Bech’s arm brush against him and sold one to the ref, shame VAR bought it too.

Rondon clearly just reckless rather than violent, but fuck me that could have take Henry out for a year. Terrible challenge.

Overall I’m pleased with the performance, the second half more so, got the goals to take the lead but restricted Everton to very little. Of course they’re not great atm and we’re down to ten for most of the half before going to nine, but we’ve seen ten men fight backs before. Very calmly saw the game out. Let’s try and see off Leeds next week now.

Yeah of course they can but for us it's happened in 6-7 games where we ended up dropping points.

Mate, I know we're both biased but if someone showed you this incident between two random players and asked you "is it okay for a defender to do this in the penalty box?", I don't think your answer would be the same and I'm confident that mine would be.

Pretty much the same for us

I expected two home wins in this week for Everton when I looked at the fixtures a few weeks ago but they have extra credit from the Chelsea and Leicester games.

The way I see it, this defeat cancels out the Leicester win IMO, but they have the Chelsea win banked still.

If Palace win, then it would level the proceedings somewhat but I don't know if they'll really fancy it but you never know I guess.

Watch the live footage rather than a still mate, he doesn’t impede Richarlison

I genuinely think this is a mad take but I'll let you have it if you beat Leeds next week xD.
