6666
A lot of big players missing for Brazil. Still have Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Raphinha in attack but their midfield and defence should be dominated by us. Far from their strongest line up.

Not our strongest line-up either, no Kane, Saka or Cole. But these are friendlies anyway, it will be good to see how some of the new players in Brazil play and how the likes of England's Gordon performs. Reluctant Striker
Selfishly happy to see Brazil's midfield 3 lacking their Villa player. Though he will probably be on at half time. England's 2 worst players have been Chilwell & Gallagher. Part of why I do think England have more need for Bellingham as an 8, not a 10. While Gordon has been such an off the ball upgrade on nearly every other wing option England have. He's in the starting 11 now, not just the squad. Danny
Gallagher needs to be off the pitch and Foden in the middle with Bellingham
Reluctant Striker
It was only a friendly, but how a player can be 2 yards offside, score the goal, but adjudged as not offside, as not interfering with play, blows my mind. The popular reaction will likely be questioning Southgate. But for me, it shows how important Kane & Bellingham are. After the subs, Foden just did not look the same level as Bellingham down the middle. And Rashford looked very one dimensional compared to Gordon. Suddenly England's big threat was Bowen on the right. If we really have to play someone next to Rice, ahead of a back 4, then Mainoo just made a big claim. Its certainly a matter of time before he's a first choice starter. Bowen unlucky to have Saka ahead of him & likely Foden being accommodated in somewhere. 6666
Has Foden ever shown up for England?
Danny
Team were too defensive, nobody wants to play forward passes. Gallagher was pony, Rashford is pony, Maguire was pony, Watkins was okay at holding the ball up on the wing but offered little else. Not going to judge the team on a friendly as we didn’t see what should he our fully fit team for the Euros. But there is no reason not to play Bellingham and Foden as an 8 and 10 when it comes to the tournament. On a side note Endrick was actually really bad and looked out of his depth (obviously just 17), but still managed to score the winner haha. 6666
Shit performance when considering the line ups. We weren't full strength but they really weren't full strength. Must've been because we didn't have the real St. George's cross on the kit...
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted March 23 Subscriber Share Posted March 23 I know it's probably generally true of internationals and especially friendlies but that was a hard watch. This England setup has been reasonably successful at tournament level but I also think there's quite a flat track bully element about it. Boringly efficient against the cannon fodder and then usually just coming up a bit short against their proper rivals. In both cases, not particularly exciting viewing. Subscriber Dan+ Posted March 24 Subscriber Share Posted March 24 You have time away from England and your hopes start to build. Then occasionally the reality takes over the hypothetical and you remember why it's just probably never going to happen under this manager.
