Yea, I am aware of that mate I watched the game...

So how has Burn fouled him?

He's got in-front of Calvert-Lewin, so how has he then fouled him?

For me there would have been no complaints if it had been given and felt he was lucky to get away with a lunge in front of the player with no intent to play the ball.. If he had not done that Lewin would have had a clear shot at goal and not have gone down in the tangle.. Burn should have been trying to block the shot but he chose the man first and for me that's a foul.. It was about the intent

Not happy or disappointed with yesterday. Thought Lacroix and Hughes deserve singular praise. Glad we grew in the game but we really should have peppered the goal more when Alisson went off.

I dont think it's as simple as its all going down to the shitter because we lost Olise, but not signing a maverick attacking midfielder is already hurting us.

The Wolves and Fulham games feel a lot more important than they should but even if we were in the bottom three at Christmas, I'd feel comfortable of survival as long as we're not cut adrift from 17th. Parish panicking in January and a good last third seems to be an annoying usual routine for us.

Lacroix looked really good for you at Goodison as well I thought.

How has he brought down the attacker though?

He's put his leg in front of the Calvert-Lewin who has then kicked him?

It's similar to fouls in other parts of the pitch. Player gets the legs and body between the ball and the other player. Other player comes through and tries to get the ball, but doesn't, and tackles/fouls the player instead.

My problem with this analysis is that players win fouls all the time where the defender tries to kick the ball or is just running along and the attacker gets themselves between the defender and the ball to buy a foul and it almost always gets given. Burn catches Calvert-Lewin's other ankle at the same time he gets kicked anyway. For me Burn prevents Calvert-Lewin from taking the shot by causing a collision and that's a foul. The fact that the initial contact comes in the form of Calvert-Lewin kicking Burn's leg is incidental.

It's not the worst howler we've seen from VAR by any stretch of the imagination and it would have been robbery after the way we performed going forward yesterday but I do think we're unlucky not to get a penalty there.

On the Burn vs DCL incident, for me, Burn is mainly just on the wrong side of DCL. The normal position is for a defender to be between the goal & the striker. But as he's behind DCL & further out from goal, for me he just still looks to block the shot. Perhaps more than play the ball. It does seem a bit clumsy. But I do think any side having that given as a penalty against them would feel harshly treated.

Another game where we can't make our chances count and end up dropping points.   All things considered a draw at Goodison is generally a good result for us,  its a pretty cursed ground.

8 games in and bar the Man City game we have been pretty shit all season.

Very big win and much needed. I only caught from about the half hour mark. We weren't convincing but I do think our own fans are being slightly harsh as well and I never thought I'd be the one saying that. I thought bar them hitting the bar they struggled to really break us down and that's nice to see - it's been a long time since we did that at this level.

We're not actually in a terrible position now. Our case is helped by the fact Southampton, Ipswich, Palace and Wolves are all somehow still winless but we can do this, genuinely.

I'm nowhere near sold on the manager and don't think he's a long term option, but that's the sort of game we need this season.

The lads did well to see out the win in the end, but there were so many missed opportunities in the first half to make it 2/3-0. Alisson is frustratingly injury prone, and picks his times to be out for weeks with this horror run we have over the next 6 weeks.

Wolves have picked up 5 points in 22 games I read. I haven't checked but Gary O'Neil is very lucky to still be in a job if that's even close to being accurate. They could be in trouble because I think Southampton are the only ones who have come up that are properly hopeless.

I'm not taking Crystal Palace seriously as a relegation candidate yet. I think we should be fine but I'd feel more comfortable if the likes of Forest and Brentford hadn't racked up so many points already.

I'm really surprised at Wolves. Based on highlights, they just look a bit lost defensively. Very open, and not really any organisation. I thought O'Neil would be alright there but that points return is shocking. Doesn't get any easier after the break either as they have Man City.

Palace will be fine eventually I think. Think they'll hover just above relegation zone and then kick on.

I can see Everton picking up some points in their next few games. Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea/Man City all in Dec though 🤐

I had Gary O'Neil at 20/1 after their first game because I noticed their form was dire and their fixtures were bad. I think having a hard opening start is always bad as well because it immediately puts you on the back foot even if obviously you do have to play everyone twice anyway. I think it adds pressure onto a game like Brentford for them the weekend just gone that otherwise wouldn't have been there.

Their fans I follow do want him out now.

I feel similarly to you on Palace. Their start has been pretty awful really all considered especially when you think about how well they finished last season and how they were being tipped as an outsider for Europe. But Palace aren't alien to bad starts and they're hardly ever in serious contention by the time April comes around, so I do expect them to be OK.

I've been pretty heavily critical of us, and I'm still nowhere near convinced, but I do believe we can survive. I really don't think our squad is as terrible as people think it is - we have goals in our side. We've created the last chances in the league yet bizarrely are the only team other than Man City & Arsenal to score in every game. Vardy's always going to get goals, Mavididi and Buonanotte look better than people thought they would at this level. Still think Fatawu has a lot to offer too.

Our next three are very big though. They're all winnable. Southampton away, Forest home, Ipswich away. I want 6 minimum because it does turn again for us after that - although I don't think Old Trafford is quite the write off people instinctively think it is.

Southampton are rank garbage. Worst team in the league for me. Forest are a strange side, draw specialists and wouldn't be surprised if that was another, but we do raise our game for that fixture at home. Ipswich I've been quite disappointed in as a neutral but quite relieved by as a rival. I thought they would offer a lot more than they have. The Villa performance was exactly what I feared they would offer - but that's a really bad loss at the weekend. I can see them beating us though.

Man Utd, Everton, Spurs and Leeds are the four horsemen of the "why does this always happen to us" apocalypse.

200% 😂 It really does feel that way, like a select minority of us are in this game purely to suffer at the entertainment of others.

If it's not been done before, you can bet one of us will have it covered soon. Still got Meslier's 96th min howler from Friday night replaying in my sleep now.

It’s hard to judge wolves from that points tally. They had such a good start to last season that their survival was never in doubt so in the last run of games the player are coasting, dropping points they are more than capable of getting. The fixtures so far this season have been hard, so you have to give a bit of leeway there as well. I’d like to see him given a bit of time, especially with the fixtures after City looking decent. If they are still struggling by mid December, he could have no complaints about being sacked.
