Administrator Stan Posted October 22 Author Administrator Posted October 22 Real losing again. Can't remember the last time they lost 2 CL games in a row. Quote
Rick Posted October 22 Posted October 22 (edited) Sahin being a coward and taking Gittens off at the 54th minute is going to lose the game. Madrid have equalised within 15 mins of the restart and Dortmund now have little option up the pitch. Edited October 22 by Rick Quote

It’s not, but Dortmund definitely have the ability to capitulate under any pressure. They doing it fairly regularly in the league compared to other ‘big’ teams. Quote
Reluctant Striker Posted October 23 Posted October 23 If anyone had not noticed, Villa vs Bologna was the Spaghetti derby. The home of Spaghetti Junction vs the home of Spaghetti Bolognese. There were some twists & turns, and Bologna did look quite tasty at times, but the crazy Villa ride continues. It's just 2 years since Unai arrived, 3 points above the Premier League relegation zone. Michael Posted October 23 Posted October 23 (edited) 18 hours ago, Tommy said: Stuttgart won at Juventus. Not only did Stuttgart win away to Juventus, they also totally dominated the match. It's great to see Stuttgart playing such beautiful football and dominating one of Italy's best teams in Turin. Demirovic was unlucky not to score in the 1st half, when his thunderous strike hit the inside of the post, but didn't cross the goal line. Juve keeper Perrin was the Italian sides best player on the night, he made excellent saves. His first impressive save was when he tipped an accurate close range Undav header over the bar. Perrin also superbly saved to concede a corner from a powerful Demirovic shot that was heading towards the top hand corner of the net. Perrin went on to excellently save an effort from Enzo Millot in the 61st minute, as Millot's accurate shot was heading towards the bottom hand corner of the net. Perrin would also go on to save brilliantly from a well struck Millot penalty in the 85th minute of the match, at which point Stuttgart may have thought their chance of winning the match was running out. Not only did Perrin save Millot's penalty, but Undav was unlucky to see an excellent strike that hit the back of the net, chalked off for offside, after Stuttgart had thought they had taken the lead. But ultimately justice would play out, as Stuttgart substitute El Bilal Toure would score the winning goal for Stuttgart in injury time. Toure played a lovely one-two pass with Millot, as Toure then burst into the penalty area and smashed the ball past Perrin and into the net. It was a great end to what was an exhilarating and impressive performance from Stuttgart. This is easily Stuttgart's strongest team since Stuttgart's Bundesliga winning team of the 2006/07 season. It's also great to see that Stuttgart appear to now have 3 top class strikers. Demirovic and Undav have proven themselves to be top class forwards who score goals on a regular basis, while young El Bilal Toure, seems to be finally living up to his potential as a lethal forward, a potential that saw Atalanta break their transfer record, by splashing out €30 million to buy him in the summer of 2023. Stuttgart have an option to buy the on-loan Toure permanently from Atalanta at the end of the season, for around €18 million. There is little doubt that Stuttgart will pay that very reasonable transfer fee, to get Toure on board on a long term contract. Stuttgart also have the young Woltemade as their fourth striker option, which just shows how healthy Stuttgart are in attack. This is a lovely Stuttgart side to watch, and their attacking threat will always make them a danger to play against, even when they take on the elite sides. Edited October 23 by Michael 1 Quote

Dortmund should have kept Gittens on, there was no real reason to bring off a creative player like Gittens in the 54th minute, when Dortmund were leading 2-0. By going more defensive, they invited Real Madrid to attack more and unfortunately for Dortmund, Real Madrid would end up winning. I don't really rate Sahin as a manager. I think that Dortmund need a more experienced manager, because Dortmund have so much potential with the quality players that they have in their squad. Dortmund should be doing much better than they have so far this season. Quote
Michael Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I expect Leverkusen to beat Brest away from home in France, even if Leverkusen have rested many of their key players for this match. It's currently 1-1 at half-time and to be fair Leverkusen have dominated most of the 1st half. Leverkusen took the lead through star man Wirtz in the 24th minute, but Brest equalised later in the half in the 39th minute. Leverkusen should get the win in the 2nd half and gain some precious points. In the other Champions League match currently going on, Celtic have done well to hold Atalanta to a 0-0 draw at half-time in Bergamo. The Italians had the better of the 1st half, but if Celtic can get a draw and gain a point in this match, it would be a great achievement for them. Quote

Rick Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Orban has got away with a couple today. Possible pen and MacAllister getting a yellow after being tackled by him Quote

LFCMike Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Stephen Warnock gets paid to give this sort of analysis “Along with the defeat by Nottingham Forest, that was the most disjointed Liverpool performance I have seen this season, but they got away with it. It will be interesting to see what Arne Slot says in his post-match interviews, because he is usually very honest about how well his team have played.” Quote

Ball didn't go out and Sesko nearly lobbed him. Quote
Subscriber Viva la FCB+ Posted October 24 Subscriber Posted October 24 Welp, we saw it coming. The cracks where there against Villa, further proven by Frankfurt and sure enough we face a quality enough squad and with how Flick has them playing they ripped us to pieces on the counter. I cant really blame Kim/Upa (the one header from Kim aside, 2nd goal I think it was) Neuer seems to be passed the point of bailing us out as well. Somethings got to give here, we need better defensive coverage. Leaving the CB's alone to defend with such a high line has clearly not been working, Kompany has to adjust. Quote

Appointing Kompany was a massive risk imo. The guy was great in the championship with one of the better squads in that league, but he looked well out of his depth once Burnley were promoted. I still think it's absurd Bayern Munich took a chance on him. Quote

I havent thrown in the towel yet we've played a few excellent matches as well but whats going to make or break him here is whether or not he can adjust tactically. If he cant were doomed. Id like to give him a chance but when I see Palhinha starting in a midfield two beside Kimmich and Kimmich is the one sitting furthest back (in theory - insulating the defence...he really wasnt but im ranting) Idk if anything can be done. Kompany comes accross quite well and I want to root for him I really do but it aint looking good. Quote
