Can't quite work it out to be honest. I'm sure you can verify! Hercules, 922-Pound Liger, Is The World's Largest Living Cat (PHOTOS) The Huffington Post With a name like Hercules, you know he's got to be big. But at 922 pounds, big is an understatement for the world's largest living cat, according to the 2014 Guinness Book of World Records. Hercules is a liger -- the hybrid offspring of a male lion and a tigress -- who lives at the Myrtle Beach Safari wildlife preserve in South Carolina. He is 131 inches long and measures 49 inches tall at the shoulder. Ligers, which do not exist in the wild, can grow to twice the size of their parents and weigh about a hundred times more than the average house cat. The safari, also known as TIGERS –- The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species –- where tours are given by reservation, is owned by Bhagavan “Doc” Antle, who also founded the Rare Species Fund in 1982, to help endangered wildlife around the world such as elephants, rhinos, orangutans and other big cats. https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/09/13/hercules-liger-worlds-largest-cat-photos_n_3920158.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAF6GBiQXP_KePy9YtAF14BVc6GIPrtt6ft-zcqlmc0gFJ8bzzFqAjThuVII14Q2AR0CY-t3dnihTlS_jEfeXQLNatxzcvzX5tvilhpmp_76VfhOJlSmkWXoZsJnDXp0Zq3BDyX6PJQ4i_8pSjBXsvHX7Xkl_nLD0BzkOLIsZoiRC

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted April 20, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted April 20, 2019 An 'exhausted' polar bear turned up in a Russian village 434 miles from its home Susanna Heller A polar bear has ended up pretty far from home - and he's giving locals quite the spook. This week, the estimated 2-year-old bear was spotted in the Russian village of Tilichiki on the country's Kamchatka Peninsula. The bear has been seen roaming around the village, which is 434 miles from his home in Chukotka, CNN reports. Experts think the bear travelled such a far way by drifting there on an ice floe. The bear "is exhausted, not aggressive," Alina Ukolova, who saw the bear, told CNN. Those who have seen the bear have reportedly welcomed the bear to the neighbourhood by feeding it fish. This, evidently, helped. "Today it felt better and went hunting," Ukolova said. Experts say the bear, who at this stage in development would typically be near its mother, ended up in Tilichiki because of climate change. "Due to climate change, the Arctic is getting warmer, hunting environment gets smaller and less convenient," Vladimir Chuprov of Greenpeace told the Associated Press. "The ice is receding, and polar bears look for new ways to survive. And the easiest way is coming to people." A plan has been set in motion to execute a rescue mission this week. Authorities in Kamchatka are mobilized to sedate the bear and airlift it back to Chukotka, according to the AP. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/offbeat/an-exhausted-polar-bear-turned-up-in-a-russian-village-434-miles-from-its-home/ar-BBW5Ufs?item=personalization_enabled:false 2

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted April 23, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted April 23, 2019 Parrot Trapped On Roof Keeps Telling Fire Crew To "F**k Off" Tom Wood in FUNNY I think we can all agree that firefighters do a pretty good job. They're out there risking their lives to keep people alive, keep people safe, and they'll even tip out to rescue an animal if it gets in danger too - that's one of the benefits of having huge ladders lying around. Well, whilst we're all massively grateful for the sacrifices and risks that they take, it seems as if not all the animals are so thankful. Jessie, a yellow and blue Macaw parrot, told the fire team that came to rescue her exactly what she thought of them, using some language as colourful as the tropical bird's plumage. You see, Jessie had been stuck on the roof of a house in Edmonton, North London, for around three days. Eventually, the London Fire Brigade attended the scene with the intention of getting the bird down from them, however, all they got was an earful after the birds started hurling expletives at the crew. Despite the fire volunteer bringing up a lovely bowl of food and a fluffy towel to try and coax her down, she just kept telling him to "fuck off". That's not very nice, is it? It's also a bit rich coming from an animal that can actually fly but has still found itself stuck on a roof. LFB Watch Manager Chris Swallow said: "Jessie had been on the same roof for three days and there were concerns that she may be injured which is why she hadn't come down. "We then discovered that she had a bit of a foul mouth and kept swearing, much to our amusement." https://www.ladbible.com/funny/animals-parrot-trapped-on-roof-keeps-telling-fire-crew-to-fk-off-20180814?fbclid=IwAR2aorQrRxqNe1X2DyEIytJyrkP3aepQd60YU-m9qvHfU-4sWFf9eeaIim8

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted April 24, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted April 24, 2019 (edited) Anybody wanna buy a bird, the feathered type I mean? A Florida Man Was Killed by a Giant Bird. Now It’s for Sale. There will be colourful macaws, lithe lemurs and cackling Kookaburras for sale at an event billed by organizers as “the dispersal of the animal estate of Marvin Hajos.” But the animal that is likely to get the most attention is the giant bird that killed Mr Hajos this month. That bird — a hulking, flightless cassowary with a daggerlike claw on each foot — will go up for auction on Saturday alongside about one hundred other exotic animals that Mr. Hajos, 75, kept on his property near Gainesville, Fla. (Several other cassowaries are also slated to go on the auction block.) https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/a-florida-man-was-killed-by-a-giant-bird-now-its-for-sale/ar-BBWfpJ2?ocid=chromentp Edited April 25, 2019 by CaaC - John

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted May 3, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted May 3, 2019 Bizarre Three-eyed Snake Discovered in Australia Rangers working near Darwin in northern Australia have found an unusual snake at the side of a road. The malformed reptile had three eyes instead of two. X-rays revealed the juvenile snake, which measured about 15 inches, had an extra eye socket on its head. According to a post from the official Northern Territories Parks and Wildlife Facebook account, the snake’s third eye was functional. Rangers said the snake probably grew its extra eye as an embryo. It’s “extremely unlikely” to be the result of environmental factors, they wrote, as naturally-occurring malformations are quite common in reptiles. Referencing hit HBO show Game of Thrones the Parks and Wildlife post added: “The three-eyed snake warns The Dry is coming!” Game of Thrones features a mystical three-eyed raven, personified by a character called Bran Stark, whose house motto is “Winter Is Coming.” Unlike southern Australia, which freezes over Winter, Australia’s Northern Territories experience a dry season from May to October, as the local government’s website notes. Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife did not immediately respond to Newsweek’s request for comment. In October 2018, an unsuspecting couple living in Leslie County, Kentucky, found a two-headed baby copperhead snake in their yard. Conservation officials confirmed both heads and sets of eyes could move, and that the creature’s two tongues were functional. Authorities were so impressed by the rare animal they decided to temporarily put it on display at the Salato Wildlife Education Center. “I have never seen a two-headed copperhead before,” herpetologist John MacGregor said in a video about the snake. “I’ve seen thousands of copperheads.” Just one month earlier, a woman in Woodbridge, Virginia, also came across a two-headed baby copperhead outside her home. Herpetologists with the Wildlife Center of Virginia took in the creature and discovered its left head was generally more active than the right. The creature had two windpipes and two oesophagi—all at different levels of development—but only one heart and one set of lungs. “Based on the anatomy, it would be better for the right head to eat, but it may be a challenge since the left head appears more dominant,” the Wildlife Center explained at the time. Two-headed snakes are relatively vulnerable in the wild and are more likely to experience serious health problems than their one-headed relatives. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/australia/bizarre-three-eyed-snake-discovered-in-australia/ar-AAANfqK
