In 1971, Benfica's squad traveled to London for a friendly match against Arsenal. Upon arrival, the kit man noticed he had forgotten to bring the players' socks. Arsenal kindly lent them their away ones for that game.

Last match at the Vicente Calderon. Always wanted to go to a match there!

Amazing stadium. Went there in October 2012 for a game against Malaga.

Falcao scored a header and Atletico scored a last-minute winner. If I remember correctly, Roque Santa Cruz scored past Courtous for Malaga's goal. The Atletico ultras behind the goal were unreal.

No, that is not a painting or some digital art its actually bikers compete during stage five of the Dakar Rally, between Tacna and Arequipa in Peru. You can see them in the central spot of the pic.

Love this of Newport's Padraig Amond. Can almost see the fear that his goal means they face Man City in the next round!

Football crowds in the good old days, a lot of standing room and no crowd restrictions squeeze them in like sardines. :D

Had this photo pinned on my bedroom wall when I was young and doing a bit of boxing of the great Rocky Marciano who really was the only undefeated heavyweight of all time, 49 professional fights and 49 wins then retired undefeated.

The story behind this photo when he beat the reigning heavyweight champion Jersey Joe Walcott was...

  • The fight was shown on closed-circuit TV in 50 theatres in 31 cities coast to coast.
  • Marciano was a slight betting favourite.
  • A left hook from Walcott floored Marciano early in the first round. It was the first time in his 43-fight professional career that Marciano had been knocked down. He got up at the count of four.
  • Going into the 13th round, Walcott was ahead on all three official scorecards. Early in the round, Walcott backed up to the ropes and began to launch a right hand, but Marciano beat him to it and put him down for the count with a right to the jaw.

In the 12th round Marciano had a very bad cut eye and could hardly see so the ref told him he would give him one more round and then he would stop the fight and award JJW the fight on a TKO, so The Rock went out in the 13th round and did this.

The referee could have counted to a thousand.
