Historians believe that the reason they can't find more than two skeletons from the Battle of Waterloo is because they think the bones were all ground up to make sugar whitening.. I guess under a technicality corporal punishment was allowed in private schools up until at least when I was in primary but it was up to the discretion of the parent to allow or disallow it.
