This year's 11 nominees were selected by UEFA's Technical Observers. There is one nominee from each of the main UEFA competitions which have been active over the past 12 months. Only goals registered in UEFA club or international fixtures were eligible for consideration.

Lucy Bronze (LYON 1-0 Manchester City)

UEFA Technical Observers say: A superbly struck volley.

Olga Carmona (Switzerland 0-2 SPAIN)

UEFA Technical Observers say: Carmona still had work to do as she cut inside on to her left foot before sending an accurate shot into the top right-hand corner.

Elisandro (Sporting CP 2-5 INTER FS)

UEFA Technical Observers say: Powerfully and accurately struck left-footed finish.

Elliot Embleton (Turkey 2-3 ENGLAND)
UEFA European Under-19 Championship group stage, 17/07/18

UEFA Technical Observers say: Very good build-up and switch from left to right followed by a fine piece of individual skill and a superb left-foot finish.

Christian Eriksen (Republic of Ireland 1-5 DENMARK)
European Qualifiers play-offs, 14/11/17

UEFA Technical Observers say: A controlled and powerful finish to a swift counterattack.

Paulo Estrela (PORTO 5 -1 Beşiktaş)
UEFA Youth League group stage, 13/09/17

UEFA Technical Observers say: A goal set up by a brilliant pass which showed excellent vision and awareness.

Eva Navarro (Germany 0-2 SPAIN)
UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship final, 21/05/18

UEFA Technical Observers say: Beautiful curling shot after nimble footwork to beat defenders.

Dimitri Payet (MARSEILLE 5-2 Leipzig)
UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, 12/04/18

UEFA Technical Observers say: An outstanding dribble and shot with the outside of the foot at an important moment in the tie.

Gonçalo Ramos (Slovenia 0-4 PORTUGAL)
UEFA European Under-17 Championship group stage, 07/05/18

UEFA Technical Observers say: A clever flicked finish to a swift team attack.

Ricardinho (PORTUGAL 4-1 Romania)
UEFA Futsal EURO group stage, 31/01/18

UEFA Technical Observers say: An excellent one-touch turn and an even better rabona finish.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus 0-3 REAL MADRID)

Ronaldo's bicycle kick was perfect, better than Bale's. But Bale's goal became the best I've ever saw in the ultimate stage, at club level.

Therefore, the fact it wasn't nominated makes this award a complete mockery already.

Im all for equality but female 'keepers are woeful. Can't take their worldys seriously.

To be fair you did start a thread on womens football so cant say you are sexist but some of the womens goals would have got past a male goalkeeper
