Look at PGMOL trying to hide this for 4 years, look at prem refs being paid by prem club owners massive amounts of money to go and freelance in other countries. This isn’t to mention some of the truly unexplainable decisions made in games. There’s way too much pointing towards something dodgy going on. We need a referee WhatsApp hacking scandal. Quote
Dave Posted November 13 Posted November 13 The S*n and the Twitter cesspit are coming out with all kinds of stuff and he must be in a pretty dark place mentally at the moment. I understand that he probably can't referee again, certainly at Premier League level but there are worse things going on. Quote

I understand drug addiction a bit and I don't fault him for doing drugs but lol why the fuck's he filming it and sending the videos to people? Absolute moron. Quote

Part of me hopes this is a good thing in that they'll actually have experience of playing the game and therefore make more informed decisions. The other part of me thinks that a) the rules are so ambiguous and vague and grey in some areas that it won't make a difference and b) they'll soon fall in to the 'mates club' and therefore also won't make a difference. The only flaw I see it is displayed by our pundits. When it comes to those close calls a Strikers interpretation of what is a foul in the area and what isn't is often different from that of a Goalkeeper or a Defender. Quote
Dr. Gonzo Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Wonder if this is the result of a pissed off ex? the thread's got more pictures Quote

Dr. Gonzo Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I was going to say I've got no idea the extent of his drug use other than the two videos (one of which I haven't seen because it's supposedly a s*n exclusive) - but if he's got a massive drug problem, I genuinely do hope he gets the help he needs. But that noncey stuff about grooming a 15 year old... not sure I want to extend any sympathy to him at all regardless of if he does have a genuinely bad drug problem. Quote
MUFC Posted November 14 Posted November 14 There 100% have been corrupt refs in the Premier League for years in my opinion. Most likely involved with betting syndicates, when you have something which is clear as daylight. Plus you have VAR helping you, then 100% there is something dodgy going on. 1 Quote

Dave Posted November 14 Posted November 14 4 hours ago, Stan said: Agreed Howard Webb was very easily manipulated in his later years. Not that he cares. When Palace got promoted back in 2013/14, he let everything go in the middle of the park but if there was something in the final third he'd blow up hecause the cameras were on him. We played against Southampton and Pochettino had already figured it out. We lost a game we shouldn't have because they played the system. Pulis learned and we beat Villa the next month because we knew not to tackle in the penalty area but Jedinak, Delaney and Ledley would take liberties against everyone in the center. If that went on ten years ago, these tactics will be implemented now. Howard was thinking about Howard and Clattenburg was the same. Quote
Dave Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I am a solid believer in your private life is your private life, but the photo of referees enticed with Asian women is a red flag for me. If you're willing to put yourself in that predicament in your spare time then you're opening yourself up for all sorts of problems. Quote

If you're willing to put yourself in that predicament in your spare time then you're opening yourself up for all sorts of problems. I think that's the issue with the videos as well tbh. Because the fact of the matter is we've got at least one ref (4 if you want to include that picture you're referencing) that's putting themselves in a position where they're creating a record of material they can be blackmailed with. Then if you ask yourself who would blackmail a referee and why... and the answer is nobody good and probably something to do with betting on football. And even if that's not happened - we don't want our referees putting themselves in the position where they appear easy to corrupt. The premier league certainly doesn't want that. I think that's the bigger issue than anything he's said in the first video that came out. Quote
LFCMike Posted November 15 Posted November 15 It was funny listening to Neville on the Overlap trying to justify why Coote should be able to referee in the PL again. Obviously they'd recorded before the confirmed drug use but his point was that calling Klopp a cunt wasn't a sackable offense. What he and a lot of people are either forgetting or choosing to ignore is that Coote has used Klopp's nationality as the insult and that would surely be a sackable offense in most normal workplaces. Yeah the xenophobia is the stupidity here from Coote. I don't know whether to be surprised or not that Neville can't see that. Even before all of this I think Coote should have been booted out a long time ago. He has things in common with the likes of Lee Mason, Chris Kavanagh, Jon Moss, Gavin Ward, Simon Hooper. Shit refs. I think we know the real reason Neville's defended him tbh. Imo it's not even the content of the words that came out of his mouth that really make this a sackable offense. It's the fact he's putting himself in positions where he then has to clarify "this video can't come out or I'll get sacked" - he's played a part in making material that he can be blackmailed with. No ref should be putting themselves in that position. Now that there's 3 or 4 videos out where he's played a part in putting himself in a similar position, I'm not quite sure what else PGMOL needs to conclude it's "investigation." It's him in the videos and the pictures of that trip to east asia. He's a referee, he's brought his own integrity into question by making the videos. I suppose if they want to see if he was indeed blackmailed or if his drug addiction did in fact impact how he's officiated, maybe they're looking into that. I'm not sure how they'd be able to prove that though. And again, the appearance of lacking integrity is enough here to where PGMOL should be taking it seriously and just going ahead with treating it as though he does lack integrity. He's already undermined the already shaky public confidence in referees. Sensible decision is to just sack him and hope he gets some help with his treatment so when he attempts to rebuild his life in obscurity he's not struggling with his addiction. Also drug test the referees ffs. Quote
MUFC Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Neville is one of those cunts who deliberately tries being controversial. Quote

That's a given, for me. Quote
