When these bacteria enter the body, they produce a toxin that causes painful muscle contractions. Another name for tetanus is “lockjaw”. It was a spasm in her neck causing the jaw to move to one side, basically a spasm in her jaw too. The main thing is your wife is ok, now being married the 'old love me forever' bit comes into play with anything like that, I have the doc's at lunch time to give another blood sample as the doc noticed the last sample showed a slight infection, with all that the wife does worry a bit with our age. Bluewolf Posted May 12, 2023 Share Posted May 12, 2023 Sorry to hear about your missus @Stan bet that was scary... my missus had something similar happen to her about 10 years ago now, I was getting ready to leave for work one morning and she stood up to give me a kiss goodbye and while we were cuddling something cracked in her neck and she just collapsed unconscious, lucky for both of us that my hugs are super huggy ones and I managed to stop her falling to the floor.. Back then the ambulance was pretty quick getting there not like it is now, they were there in about 20 minutes.. A couple of years back I accidently stabbed myself in the wrist with some gardening secateurs ( I was fighting off a wild bear or some shit like that ) anyway, my wrist was pissing blood like a tap and when the missus called the ambulance they said it would be up to 2 hours before they could get to me!!! My neighbour kindly took me up there straight away and I had to sit in the emergency for an hour with my arm held above my head before they got to me.. Our services are in dire shape these days.. Very much seems like it. NHS privatisation might be the worst thing they ever do. Hopefully there is enough backlash against it to stop it ever happening. Hopefully they're out of power before any movements are made. NHS is one of the best things about this country. Ever. But it's been criminally mis-managed. Or paying something mental like 5x what everyone else in the world pays for the same medication. The doctors are all great, sure. But are they that great that the intensely high costs are worth it? Probably not. I've got a partially subsidised insurance policy through my work and thank god I do, because I've had a couple of serious surgeries here that were needed for me to... be able to move like a normal person ever again and to be able to use my hand like it's a hand. I would have gone completely broke or been permanently disabled if not for that tbh. The only thing I wish this government would get sorted out is a universal healthcare system. I would pay more in taxes to make it happen.
