  1. I have been waiting for someone to adapt Asimov's Foundation for like ages... the problem is, I think it's very hard to do it and also stay true to the novels. I think this will be just a loose adaptation; hope they don't screw it up... First Dune, now Foundation, sign me up for 2021!

  3. Unbelievable. Horner said 25 seconds longer and he wouldn't have been able to start. I hope these mechanics get a big bonus.

  5. That’s because so many people don’t give a shit about politics so you get in people that are only really in it to enrich themselves. People who don’t give a shit about politics are easy to manipulate and that’s how you end up with governments that are incompetent in every regard except for being corrupt.

  7. It must be devastating. I'm glad I haven't had to go through it. But it was worse here in April/May when lockdown was at it's highest. It wasn't even 30 people. It was (I think) up to 4 people allowed to attend, socially distanced. I couldn't bear to think what that'd be like. Then you had politicians breaching lockdown rules left, right and centre with barely any consequence. It made a mockery of it all and just added to the pain in some way for those people who couldn't attend funerals.

  8. Brilliant, the wife sitting here on her laptop singing away when I played that, she will be like @nudge and will be humming away all day with that song.

  10. I'm not sure what brought this about, but this song has been in my head all day. As a child I use to watch this movie over and over again, laughing my ass off each and every time. It's been 15 years probably since I've seen it last, but this came into my head and now I want to watch this movie again. Get inspired folks!

  11. I read a book that was a Hugo Award winner, and I just didn't get it. So then I did some research... Hugo is for Sci-Fi, and not what I just assumed, which was some form similar to that of Victor Hugo. I also like Sci-Fi, so I might want to take this up as well next year when things SHOULD be slowing down.

  12. Yep, I especially like it as it makes it easy to choose the next book to read without having to spend hours trying to decide I also love sci-fi, so it was a no brainer...

  13. Missed this - but this sounds like a great challenge. I have been in need of an easy read, and have rather enjoyed the historical thrillers as of late, and so I started a new author and his first novel is a love series of fiction books. Next up - I'll go with either of the following - which is a topic that I have always been interested in.

  14. Just finished this one, actually quite enjoyed it. Pretty much a crime novel/psychological thriller/murder mystery/film noir in a sci fi setting, a bit pulpy, thouroughly 50s feel. Also probably the first novel ever to use textspeak (@kins, T8, $$son) . Anyway, moving to the next one. Quite excited, but for all the wrong reasons, as it's apparently the worst novel to ever win the Hugo Award They'd Rather Be Right (also known as The Forever Machine) by Mark Clifton and Frank Riley. Wish me luck.
