The table update following round six of this year's tournament. @Rucksackfranzose is the big mover of the round with the highest score of the season propelling him to joint 4th in the season standings. @...Dan moves up to 2nd with a whopping 7 point haul but @Viva la FCB's consistency pays off, 5 points for 3rd place in the Dutch round essential in keeping the competition at arms' length. He now goes into what could be the final round as the overwhelming favourite to reclaim the league title he won in the 2018-19 season, with his closest competitors @...Dan and @Mel81x likely needing to win the Portuguese iteration outright to have a chance of stealing top spot. At the other end, of those that have taken part in every round, there is a much closer fight over the wooden spoon between @Bluewolf, @McAzeem, @Pyfish, @Storts and @Stan .2 points

True. Many German TV channels used to do that, and some still do. But not the main ones, unfortunately. I remember as a kid/teen watching TV or DVD's I switched to English because I was so curious what the actors really sounded like. Now I haven't watched a film dubbed to German in almost 15 years I think.1 point

It's such an insult to the art of acting. But hey, I'm not some sort of snob or whatever.1 point

I know he said it, I read it. I also have no doubts that if asked, he would recommend his compatriot who is currently doing well, the question is though, will Bayern actually ask him to recommend aynone1 point

That news has really shook me @Mpache. If you don't study hard you'll find the ground start to shake underneath you and swallow you whole. Good luck though, a meteoric rise would be amazing.1 point

What did you study before? Be ready for a lot of maths, programming and physics if you decide to do it. That's quite a niche field, so you'd likely need a Master's degree to land a job in the industry.1 point

Seismology was my only option regarding a science when I was told to pick a career back in high school. Since I was about 10 or 11 I've loved researching what causes earthquakes and tsunamis. I remember I spent hours looking at what happened in Japan back in 2011. I'm not too bothered at sciences but Seismology is one that definitely has interested me for a long time.1 point

With me, it almost certainly always is I'm sure if you do succeed, you'll be making waves in your field in no time.1 point

You're missing the point again. My issue isn't even necessarily with the refs getting everything wrong. It's an overly ambitious demand for them to get every decision right and as proven by the fact that they still can't even with VAR in place, it makes you question why they bother having it at all. The rules in place are largely subjective, largely down to interpretation and it's an impossible ask to get them all right. Therefore, why ruin goals and steal some of the moments that make the sport special in the attempt to achieve a goal that they will never fully reach? I read a brilliant article on the athletic once from Michael Cox, it was a VAR in or out debate, Raphael Honigstein made the pro-VAR case and while he put forward a decent argument himself, Cox listed far too many things that were spot on. Harry Kane when scoring a winner away at Dortmund is asked how he feels about scoring a goal and his first reaction is "I hope that isn't ruled out by VAR". That's just completely damaging to football as a spectacle. I will never dispute that it has increased the number of correct decisions you get in games, but the cost for me completely outweighs the benefit, to a level that I can barely comprehend the fact any fan, player or manager wants it in the game.1 point

You won't admit to him ball watching, or watching the keeper. Makes it impossible to discuss. Fuck off.1 point

Okay. He wasn't watching the ball. He wasn't watching the keeper. What was he watching, nightrider? @DeadLinesman @Stan put this peon up against the wall behind the chemical sheds and execute him for me please. xoxo1 point

You're telling me if Welbeck's goal against us in 2016 was stopped for a minute as they checked it that wouldn't taint that moment at all for you? I mean fair enough, you're entitled to think that, but it just loses something for me. See also things like Aguero's goal v QPR, could you imagine that moment with VAR? It just wouldn't be the same, even if the goal still stands. The sport is an emotional game, it's a release, I won't even hide that I'm vocally critical of refs during games and what not, it's just a part of the game to me, football's beautiful in its imperfections and yet we're aiming for a perfection that you just simply can't achieve - as proven by the fact we still can't get 100% correct decisions even with VAR.1 point

Too many grey areas again. How clear is 'clear'? What's the point where it isn't clear enough? It isn't fixable. It never will work. I'd bet anybody that they will make some further tweaks to the rules (to supplement VAR, which the VAR apologists will then as usual absolve VAR of the blame for), we will still have problems, rinse and repeat. Football is the best sport in the world by any objective measure. The most popular in the world and the most popular in the most countries, and it very much was that before VAR as well. It doesn't need to taint itself with video technology that fundamentally changes the flow of the game, killing the enjoyment, robbing us of moments and memories. It ruins the spectacle.1 point

Welcome Brian has had a very eventful past, online and offline, so to speak. Given his trials and tribulations, perhaps it is fitting Easter is just round the corner as he was once known to have died and then, like a phoenix from its ashes, rose once again a few days later and he was, in fact, still alive. His obituary, albeit temporary, proclaimed he was a lover. Who he was a lover to remains anonymous. Perhaps people can point their finger at who it could be, but all the while it is not our position to judge...1 point
