"From my point of view, it's all the other planets that are spinning backwards".1 point

It was once Earth's sister, but then decided to become that edgy teenager.1 point

Yep, Venus rotates very slowly and also "backwards" (i.e. in the opposite direction to other planets). Such a weirdo!1 point

Just watching a documentary about Venus on Youtube, and they put Venus next to Earth to show the difference in their rotation speed. It's crazy how fast Earth rotates compared to Venus.1 point

I instantly had to think of Interstellar. But yea, it would be interesting to know.1 point

I always wondered what would happen if you attempted to make a landing on a gaseous planet. Like, obviously you can't land as there's no surface, but what exactly would happen? Well I mean in reality you would just get crushed by immense pressure, but ignoring that. Would you just fly through the planet? Or are there some liquid layers you can swim through? Or is there an actual solid core? So many questions...1 point

Yea, I googled it and figured it out. Very confusing indeed. Until quite recently I wasn't even sure which ones are Gas giants, and which ones are terrestrial. I felt dumb as shit. Only when we spoke about the Apps and spotting planets etc. I did a proper Wikipedia research.1 point

Old b&w pictures from the past haunt me when I look at them and think like this one of The Vennel, the windows in the background half drawn curtains and I imagine someone is inside that flat more than likely sitting around a coal fire reading a book, no TVs, laptops, mobiles in those days, nostalgic.1 point

A day = the time it takes for a planet to rotate once around its axis A year = the time it takes for a planet to complete one orbit around the Sun It takes Venus 243 Earth days to rotate around its own axis, therefore 1 Venus day = 243 Earth days. It takes Venus 225 Earth days to make a full orbit around the Sun, therefore 1 Venus year = 225 Earth days. 243 > 225, therefore 1 Venus day is longer than 1 Venus year.1 point

Edit: It takes Venus longer to rotate once on its axis than to complete one orbit of the Sun. Aaaaah.1 point

Seeing as ETH is happy using Luke Shaw at centre back it wouldn't surprise me at all.1 point

6 month loan of a Dutch international who scored 2 against Argentina in a World Cup Q/F. No issues with that if it means we save money for the summer.1 point

Nope, not yet... But I would highly recommend watching The Farthest, it's easily the best space documentary out there.1 point

Agree with this. He's a heck of a talent and if he can learn to be more consistent he could be worth double that price in a few years.1 point

He's decent-paced, technically talented, and has judged from afar and according to Hoffenheim's officials the right attitude. On the flip side he's far from being the finished product and has an unpleasant tendency to follow Neymar's struggles to stay on his feet, when tackled. 20-30M Euros seems about correct, still are a good deal for Hoffenheim considering they bought him for only 750K Euros two years ago.1 point

Stardew Valley. I've been interested in that game for a long time now, always reading what it's about etc. So I finally caved in and bought it for 9 Euros or so. Just played it a little, and it's so cute. Gonna play it properly tonight.1 point

Spike, wishing you the best in this struggle mate, and also applaud the bravery of your post. I have my own demons and I understand a lot of what you said there. I think you're right about the impact of the isolation. That's bound to be a big impact and hopefully something that can be addressed with some changes like moving closer to home as you mentioned being on the cards. I hope you don't fixate too much about losing passions for hobbies over time, this happens to almost everyone. For example with football for me. And I felt down about it and started to psychoanalyse it. But what I realised with football was that what really made me love it in the first place was that it brought me together with people, and it had stopped doing that, because circumstances changed as I grew older... I went from watching it with my football team at the pub with regularity, and watching it at home in order to talk about the matches at training, and having a girlfriend that liked football more than I did, who watched games with me, whereas now days I left the football team, my wife is apathetic and I don't really have any real life friends I talk football with. This saps alot of the best bits out of it. Best not too put too much pressure on yourself to feel a certain way, as it can amplify any negative feelings. Hope you feel better soon mate1 point
