nudge Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 Found this article while reading about colour theory in photography: https://www.fotographee.com/color-theory-photography/ Could be useful, not only for basic understanding but especially in terms of post-processing (Photoshop/Lightroom). Quite a few practical examples there. 2 Quote

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted May 12, 2020 Subscriber Posted May 12, 2020 Victorian Mothers Hid Themselves in Their Babies’ Photos SLIDES - 1/5 It’s taken for granted nowadays that mothers can photograph their little darlings anytime they like. Capturing every sweet, mischievous expression that crosses a child’s face is made easy by the smartphone camera always within reach. This is, of course, a recent development in motherhood. Consider instead the hidden mothers of 19th-century photographic-portrait studios, when long exposure times meant moms had to find a way to keep their little ones sitting still long enough to be seen, while also fading into the background themselves. Because 30-second exposure times and squirming children don’t mix very well, portrait studios often employed women who would help the young subjects stay immobile—while attempting to remain invisible—when mothers weren’t holding their children themselves. In the resulting images, children float uncannily within textiles that hide a human form, phantom limbs appear with no bodily attachment, and mothers hide their face under weirdly placed curtains or even directly behind their baby. Nearly 200 years before the selfie, mothers were perfecting the selfless. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/offbeat/victorian-mothers-hid-themselves-in-their-babies-photos/ar-BB13WrVZ#image=1 Quote
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted May 12, 2020 Subscriber Posted May 12, 2020 I'm trying to get back into photography again. Subscribed to a monthly photo magazine through work so that's a good start and I'm already trying out some of the ideas in the first issue I've got. Focusing a lot on editing of photos in this issue and I saw a tutorial on how to make a glitch effect on photos so using a photo of Taylor Swift I came up with this... Needs some tweaks as the bits at the top aren't so good but happy with it for a first go! 1 Quote

Ha - I used to remember going on family holidays and waiting for the pictures back! There's always more blurry ones than not and there's always the ridiculously bad close-ups or bad portraits. Or ones where the finger just got in shot and it's made it blurry as well Quote

It's basically the same photo sharing concept as Instagram, but solely for photographers (all levels, from the very beginners to pros with amazing portfolios), so you don't get stupid influencers, advertisers and whatnot. They also run numerous photography challenges and quests regularly. If you wish, you can also license your photos with them and sell them that way. 2 Quote

nudge Posted May 21, 2020 Author Posted May 21, 2020 Just ordered an ultra-wide angle lens, Tokina 12-24mm f/4 AT-X Pro DX II. Got it on a very good offer, and since I don't have an ultra-wide yet, this has come at just the right time... 2 Quote

I have an 18mm on my Sony camera and have had quite a few other wide angle ones throughout the years, but never anything below 15mm, so I'm quite excited! will hopefully put it to good use when I'm in a position to shoot landscapes again... as_art Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Thanks nudge Regarding this technique... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NjYbAAQ4vw In general, it is not too complicated but some steps may be tiring, especially peel off the paper, a small mistake and the whole work fails. Quote

Try to do it But the most important, image must be laser printed + upside down (mirror effect) I hope you understood my complicated explanation And prepare: - a piece of wood (possible with other materials but I am sure that wood is most appropriate) - wood glue (mix with water) - colorless varnish - and a lot of patience If you will need any advice, feel free to ask me. Good luck! Edited May 25, 2020 by as_art 1 Quote
