It was noticeable during Brexit & Trump, characters like Sargon of Akkad, Milo, Paul Joseph Watson, That Guy T, Mike Cernovich, Lauren Southern hold huge cultural influence now. The majority seem to be right in there message, Sargon & That guy tend to be left/centre but aside from that lefties are thin on the ground. Anyone else following it?

Most of those guys are simply edgy libertarians. Particularly idiots like Paul Joseph Watson are useless because they can't move past this maligned "INTOLERANT LEFTISTS" rhetoric. And don't even get me started on Milo Pedopoulos.

At the same time, the classic socialism of the '80s is dead, with most leftists now embracing EU, NATO, and with that, globalism and 'invade-the-world-invite-the-world' foreign policy.

Even the so-called 'counter-cultural' alternatives that are out there are largely useless because they focus on defending the "Western world" and its values (hyper-individualist hedonism). Anyone who claims to be against the status quo but is not at the same time explicitly against the West as a geopolitical entity is working to preserve what he claims to hate, while contributing to the distruction of what he claims to love. A figure like Paul Joseph Watson is pro-capitalism, pro-Israel, pro-Western hegemony, and any edgy opinions he has on Islam don't discount the fact that his vision is profoundly pro-establishment.

In short, if you claim to be counter-cultural but prefer your Pinochet to your Castro because "muh gommies out of helicopters xDDDD", you are simply another paper tiger. I'll take an old-school communist over an alt-righter with an anime avatar any day.

Paul Joseph Watson is a moron.

I actually saw a couple of his tweets retweeted and then followed him since I quite liked them, and then I realised he just claws in bitter idiots with meaningless sound bites and paranoid ramblings.

The fact that he shared that photo of the woman wearing a niqab walking by the Westminster victim with the caption "says it all" shows that he's just an attention whore with no intellectual substance.

Im glad I had realised my mistake and unfollowed him well before that.

I love the way people just come out with "he's a moron" as if they're making a contentious statement. He's an agrophobic member of Alex Jones crowd. Some of his videos are funny at times but like Jones he seems to think his own voice somehow validates the stuff he's saying. Can't deny he wields considerable influence though.

Did anybody watch that video I put up, I find the mass demonitisation of YouTube quite disturbing

True leftists have NEVER had a place in the USA.  It's almost an alien concept.  The government has done its part in this matter, but I'd say 70% of the resistance to leftist thought in the USA is cultural.  Our country is ruled by money, and not titles.

There is something very wrong in the US at the moment. I'm not sure the cause, but we can certainly see by the growing partisan behavior and intolerance showed by all sides of your political spectrum. But what is most interesting to me is that reach and influence of american culture is so great, that the disease of your society is spreading to the entire world.

Steinbeck hit the nail on the head about why leftism struggles in the states:

America has no working class, just temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

Democratic socialism correlates to cultural homogeneity. The more divided a country is in factors such as class, wealth, race, religion, geography etc. the weaker socialist ideals are. The US is the least homogenous country in the entire west by a substantial way. That makes it appear as if it is an outlier and that there must be some conspiracy going on but there's not. The US absolutely has a left wing, just not big on socialist ideas because of the absense of the environment of homogeneity that is required. The US is also the most patriotic country in the west, it has to be because the lack of homogeneity would make the country fall apart otherwise.

Revolutionary socialism on the other hand requires a weak rule of law that can be overpowered by a violent faction which then uses its violence to achieve cultural homogeneity, committing mass murder in the process.

Socialism and homogenity are inextricably linked.

honest question from you lads: when faced with opinions that are contrary to yours, say you're in a pub, does trading your two viewpoints in said pub ever occur? Seems to happen a lot here in the US. Back to the discussion at hand, the Internet is a beautiful thing allowing people to not have to rely on the MSM for news, BUT it's caused so many problems. I'm fairly right leaning, but it seems both sides tend to block each other from putting their views out.

In America tell a conservative that they are no worse than a liberal and they'll lecture on morality. Tell a liberal they are no worse then a conservative and you'll be crucified by a group of young people in ski-masks. It is absolutely mind boggling how left the liberals have become. I've always considered myself a fairly liberal person but by comparison I'm closer to a republican.

Fairly liberal, or fairly moderate/center left? :D I do think that the riots on US streets are getting ridiculous. I can understand sitting on a street corner with the "end racism" "end the gender wage gap" signs, that's expressing free speech. It certainly goes too far when these people under the Antifa banner firebomb businesses. On a slightly different note, here in the US it's gotten ridiculous how celebs and sports figures think their opinions ought to be held in a higher position than us peasants.

The problem is that celebs and sports figures think their opinions are more important than ours. I live in the rural US (no, there's no far-right wingers here), and basically people who were leaning towards Trump were immediately labeled racist, bigot, fascist, misogynist, and other labels hijacked by the left. People here were concerned about problems such as WOTUS, and federal government implementing more taxes. Between urban residents and rural residents there's a big failure to communicate.

I agree with this sentiment. I don't necessarily agree/believe in the protests you provided as examples but I believe they have the full rights protected by the constitution to their free speech.  Everyone should be allowed to their opinion (no matter how ludicrous) and everyone should be allowed to disagree and agree. I will always believe it's better to reform a Nazi than to punch one.

If virtue signaling idiot celebrities and social justice warriors on one side and the likes of Tomi Lahren, Paul Joseph Watson, Mike Cernovich on the other side is all the US can produce those days, I cannot wait for the chinese overlords take over the entire world and shut down Internet. 😎 Seriously though, in my opinion it is problematic when everyone has an opinion and is willing to share this said opinion, but few people actually take the time to read, reflect and to listen an expert before expressing their thoughts.

The feminist rallies here are a nightmare as well. I went to one to see what it would be like, it's basically girls who should NOT be topless are. Not to mention, most of them have no idea why they're protesting in the first place. The few "hot" girls there are followed by packs of guys who are desperate to shag. These feminists accomplish nothing, and undermine the classical feminists and their accomplishments.

You realise you've made a point as to why they're going topless there?

Feminism was create by men to get laid more. Hey ladies, take your bras off and get them tiddies out, abort this kid so I can cum inside you, take birth control so I fuck without a condom, there is nothing wrong with being a slut now sick me dick.

Women, you got played and men are winning everyday because of it.

Common decency? I'm not prancing about flashing my hairy white ass at people.

There's your problem, comparing your arse to their tits. Women's breasts are made to be sacred, sexual objects which they're not. Don't get me wrong, I'm big, big, big fan of boobs, but a woman should have the right to walk around in public with them out (within areas that it's OK to be topless) without being demonised or have their looks torn apart for it by insecure men like yourselves. Breasts are their to feed children, that's science. Them being sexualised is completely a human made concept. Holding women to that concept simply because it's what you know and what you've been brought up around is not your right.

Wrong. Breasts aren't solely meant to feed children. They are a form of peacocking to signal fertility, it's basic biology; breasts are sexual, it's not a human made concept.

Why do you have a dig at me? Insecure? You could have said the exact same thing without that remark. Piss off ya tit, don't make assumptions about me.

In this hypothesis from the NY Times penis size and breast size is equivalent signalling. If women can walk around with their tits out then men can do the same with their cocks.

https://www.nytimes.com/1984/04/08/magazine/what-made-humans-human.html?pagewanted=all

Males and females developed a variety of permanent, noncyclical sex attractants. Human females, for example, are the only primates with breasts that remain prominent when not lactating. Human males have, by far, the most conspicuous penises of any primate. Humans are the only species with genital scent organs--specialized sweat glands situated among pubic hairs.

Why should a hominid male remain faithful to his mate? Why wouldn't other females be just as attractive? Lovejoy says his hypothesis does not demand perfect fidelity or permanent monogamy, but he does suspect that it offers an explanation for another peculiarly human phenomenon: the highly individual physique, especially the face. ''I suspect we have evolved such a variable appearance precisely so that people can form an attachment to a certain mate,'' Lovejoy says. ''I keep thinking of that song, 'Though your face is charming, it's the wrong face. It's not her face...' ''

There's a difference between reproducing and something similar to a fetish though isn't there? Breasts are a signal of the ability to reproduce, so you can tell the difference between a child who can't reproduce and an adult who can (or if you're a wrongun the mid-late teens in between). They're not a signal that a woman wants you to judge her looks aesthetically when she has them out so you can decide whether or not you'd like to spunk on her face or have sex with contraception on.

Most countries in the west view breasts as a sex symbol, yet there are tribes where it's common practice to just let them hang out because they don't idolise them.

I made a dig because you're offended by a pair of tits, "common decency", and the fact you have a dig at everything and everyone. "feminists are there to suck my dick etc etc etc". Well hard.

Let's not forget one thing:  In America, you DO have the chance at making it big.  There are many people that grew up in the shit and made something great of themselves.  The problem is scarcity - there are fewer outlets of success than there are poor people, so you're bound to have a ton of "losers" in the system.

For me, I prefer equal opportunity over equal outcome.
