I wonder what the verdict will be on Sean Dyche's sacking after the dust has settled. They went on an incredible run initially but with hindsight, maybe with his experience with the team over so many years they'd have ground out another couple of points but you never know. It certainly wasn't a foregone conclusion that they were on their way down. Still, they got to 35 points and that's been enough to stay up more often than not. Said it a few weeks ago when Everton, Leeds and Burnley were all picking up points here and there that one team was going to drop with a substantial points haul.

For me the verdict is that Dyche almost guarantees them promotion back to the Prem. Not so confident of it now

I can't sit here and say I'm gutted Burnley have gone because I'd be lying but equally, I'm not going to gloat about it.

Have to acknowledge the weight they had been punching in the Premier League since they came up and how well they have fought to continuously survive. You could never fault their honesty or graft.

Not good enough anybody who thinks dyche would of saved us is talking shit too we've been shit for over 12 months and in the end up got what we deserved. Jackson picked up the team then all if a sudden his bottled went for last 3 and stuck 5 at the back.

Good luck to pope wherever he ends up. Class act. The rest who leave couldn't give a fuck about. We're deep in shit now. The owners are dodgy as fuck..

Cornet will leave its in his contract that we've to sell for what we paid for him. So he's not having the championship for a minute.

Good luck to whoever comes in

Pope.

Tarkowski

Mee

Taylor

Will all leave

Burnley will have a good chance of coming straight back up. As for dyche. He will easily get another premier league job

Not so sure about right now but can definitely see him being brought in for a panic December appointment somewhere.

I dont think we will see Burnley return for some time. Every article I read about this Takeover makes it look more worse than I initially anticipated and relegation is only going to expedite any financial issues.

I've read next to nothing about the Burnley takeover. To be honest, I was only vaguely aware that it had happened. From what little I have seen and heard though, it sounds like nothing good.

As for Dyche, there should be a market at the bookies as soon as the Championship playoffs are decided. Which Premier League club will sack their manager and hire Sean Dyche when they're in the relegation zone next season? I'm certain that he'll be right at the top of the mid-season firefighter standings next season.

Aye, isn't there some clause in the purchase that requires them to expedite payment of a ~65m loan if they get relegated?  Could be internet BS.

I can't remember the exact figure but Kieran Maguire did mention on his podcast that there's an eight figure loan where repayments get expedited if they were to relegated.

I still think it was a strange decision.

I think they'd have had a decent chance of staying up had they stuck with him... and even if they still dropped... I think he's proven he knows how to find a way out of the championship. Part of me wonders if Burnley sacked him out of "loyalty" tbh - the next premier league side that starts off struggling and has a manager under pressure, I think Dyche will be linked with that job. And he doesn't have to have a relegation on his CV when he's looking for new jobs.

Because while I think what he's done at Burnley with their tiny budget is really impressive, I do think some people... especially people running football clubs see how Burnley played and see him as a specialist in hardworking squads that are lacking a bit in technical ability & getting them to punch above their weight. And I'm not sure how fair that is on Dyche because all we've seen of him in the top flight is working with a tiny budget at Burnley. So his style of football + having a relegation in his record might have doomed him from ever getting to "make a step up" in his career.

I think he's a good manager even though I don't really like his style of football... and it'd be interesting to see if he can build on what he's shown he can do well if he ever gets a job at a club with a bigger budget and bigger aspirations.

An excerpt from The Athletic:

The pressure is on. Owners ALK have to get this summer right or more problems could be around the corner.  No more Premier League TV money, which made up 90 per cent of the club’s revenue in the latest set of accounts. A significant portion of the £65 million loan taken out to purchase the club is now due in the coming weeks. The finances are a worry. There has been a turnover in staff behind the scenes and the status of the academy is unclear.
