But surely once he's round the keeper he's slotting that if he's not taken out

Not seen the full picture or incident but you'd like to think so. It's the only reason I can think of as to why. Or it looks like he's going away from goal, as the ball is kicked away from it judging by where the edge of the box is and how far he's kicked it past Ederson.

In hindsight it was the perfect time to play Man City. They were flying to Dubai after the game and were missing Doku and Grealish.

That's to take nothing away from Roy and the players. To miss so many first team players and take points at The Etihad again is some achievement.

Roy deserves a ton of credit for his substitutions. For a man who allegedly doesn't like using youth, he did well by Ozoh The Tank and Franca yesterday.

Cheers Palace, means we go into next week at least three points above them regardless of today. Still, we need to be winning today, it’s pretty unacceptable if we don’t. Could do with Brighton turning it on as well.

Reading lots about Brentford absences. But for Villa Douglas Luiz & Digne both suspended. First time since the days of pre-Unai that both McGinn & Ramsey are apparently part of a midfield 3, with one DM, Kamara. And he is much more DM that Dougie. Unless of course Unai's deploying Cash in a new DM based role. He has played wide midfield rather than wing-back before now.

With Sheffield United (h) Man United (a) & Burnley (h) ahead in December, this one feels like it can set expectations whichever direction it goes.

Kudus scores for West Ham. Good strike but seem like Wolves could have defended that better. Definitely the keeper as well, wasn't even right in the corner. Quick break from West Ham and Paqueta.

2-0 West Ham. Very easy for West Ham to slice through Wolves. Wolves defenders parting like the Red Sea.

Really odd team selection from Unai. Tielemans not available either. But we had conducted some quite extensive research to know with certainty that this particular midfield can be expected to fail.

Dendoncker, average as he may be, on as 2nd DM for Konsa or Cash.

And Bailey on for someone else. Ramsey or Diaby.

Brentford are master's at finding ways to drop points and in danger of losing this.  Villa are good no doubt but Brentford need Toney even though his stay may be short lived.

Classy West Ham fans. Booing a Wolves player as he goes down to get medical attention for a head injury. Especially after what happened with Lockyer yesterday.

Big 3 points for Villa. A few missing midfielders. Kamara will miss 1 or 2 now. But, we'll surely start favourites with any 11 at home to Sheff United & Burnley. 9 points from 12 to end the year. Plus any Old Trafford bonus.

I hope Joey Barton isn't watching. Presumably he'll be absolutely furious that Sky are interviewing a couple of golf players about this football match.

Anyone think Liverpool can replicate the 7-0 from last season? Be hilarious if they do. Ten Hag wouldn't be allowed back on the bus home.

Barring a few minutes, Man Utd look quite nervous. Their insistence on playing out from the back with Onana at the heart of it will kill them.

Brentford - Villa got quite spicy.

Started with Ben Mee's VAR sending off. I remember him from his Burnley days, when he took out Wesley or Heaton.

Then Watkins did something quite specially taunt looking after his goal.

It was bizarrely Villa trying to hurry the restart at 1-2.

Later, Emi Martinez trying to drag Maupay to his feet, soon after being clotheslined by someone.

Then it all got a bit chest bumping among loads from each side, before Kamara got his red card.

I guess it is still the Watkins-Mee-Smith derby..
