Joao Santos, the agent of Napoli midfielder and Manchester City target Jorginho, has confirmed that he is in talks with Manchester City and if they can reach an agreement with Napoli, the player will join the Premier League champions.

Speaking to CalcioNapoli24, Santos made it clear that a move to the Etihad for Jorginho is well and truly on – but only if the two clubs can reach an agreement.

"If Napoli reach an agreement with Manchester City, a deal will be done. I’m talking to City, reaching an agreement with them will not be a problem considering the importance of the team.

“But I repeat, it will depend on the decisions of Napoli, as the player is under contract with the Azzurri for two more years.

“City are the champions of England and one of Europe’s top clubs.

Good luck in negotiating with ADL... He will squeeze you like a ripe juicy sweet orange before he gives his nod.

Looks almost done. 47 million apparently.

I think the fact that Fabinho and Jorginho cost roughly the same as Drinkwater and Bakayoko will make every Chelsea fan want to jump off a bridge.

Oh what i'd give to see the day to day operations in our board room.

Allegedly Citeh have had a fourty four million pound bid rejected.

Quite surprised by the fee there. It seems like the transfer market isn't going to inflate as radically as it's done in the last two years.

Manchester City have tabled a new £42million bid for Napoli midfielder Jorginho, according to reports.

The Premier League champions are desperate to land the Italy international this summer and have already had one offer knocked back.

That bid was structured at €45m (£39.4m) up front with a further €5m (£4.3m) being included as bonuses.

Napoli rejected that bid but, according to Sky Sports, Manchester City have returned with a new proposal.

City hope an improved offer of €48m (£42m) up front with €2m (£1.75m) in add-ons will be enough to get a deal for Jorginho over the line.

However, they may be disappointed.

Napoli are reportedly demanding they receive the €50m (£43.75m) in full, or else the 26-year-old cannot leave.

How do Brazilians feel about him choosing to play with Italy over Brazil?

Jorginho gave the priority to Brazil. But Tite told him he was free to play for Italy as he wouldn´t be called.

He is not known in Brazil, as he´s played his entire career in Italy, so there wasn´t much backlash.

Di Marzio: Manchester City agree £43million fee with Napoli for Jorginho

Italy’s leading transfer guru reports that after weeks of talks, the two sides have finally defined a cash deal for the gifted midfielder.

The protracted negotiations proved fruitful for City, who managed to knock down Aurelio De Laurentiis’s original asking price of around €60million and land the 26-year-old for what looks like a reasonable fee.

The Brazilian-born Italy international is expected to sign his contract shortly, with some reports even suggesting he may already be in England.

Jorginho’s arrival will fill the void left by Yaya Touré and provide both competition and a probable successor for Fernandinho, 33, who made 48 appearances last season.

They play in two totally different positions?

with Man City, there are no positions. Look at where players like De Bruyne play sometimes xD

@Happy Blue what's the situation with Mahrez? Smoke-screen to get Jorginho? Getting both?

Thought the deal was done and dusted for you to get Riyad in this summer.

He would of been a panic buy when Sane got injured, not sure how keen we are to pay the money you want for him now when we have Bernardo Silva on the bench too
