Yep! he's the Spanish Joe Hart, he's got a clanger or two in him every game if the other team can get enough shots at him

The problem there is that it was the ONLY shot he had to deal with tonight. >:(

Not really... I see it as a good test against a very good defence. There were also various things Lopetegui tired out today that won't be happening in competition. The result is secondary when you play that well mate. It's a friendly.

You played some nice football, just needs more penetration

This may end in a draw but Spain have been very very good tonight. Maybe a cutting edge in the final third would’ve seen more goals for Spain but Switzerland definitely know how to defend very well indeed.

Spain cannot beat Switzerland

Switzerland have always been the biggest shithouses in Europe to be fair. I don't think this result should come to a big surprise to many.

Yea Fernandez scored :D

Yeah, I remember Spain literally peppered their goal with shots and nothing would go in. Hahaha

But like I said...  The result isn't important.  Dodgy goal to concede in their only real attempt and Spain were trying out various things which all looked pretty good because they were things that had to do with trying different types of attacking.  Plus the quality in the whole squad is unbelievable. From there, it's all about effectivity when the tournament starts and that's a different story.

Argentina have cancelled their friendly with Israel, definitely the right thing to do given the circumstances but who the hell is arranging warm up friendlies in politically volatile countries a week before the World Cup? I don't know how much this will effect them, friendlies are usually a waste of time but Argentina need all the time they can get playing together.

Argentina (AFA) have made it clear this morning that the only reason the game between Israel and Argentina has been cancelled is because of death threats to some of the Argentina players and also an apparent plot to cause a terror attack in the immediate area of the stadium where the game was to be played.

The AFA have made it plainly clear that the cancelling of the game should be in any way construed as a political decision or a gesture of being against Israeli policy.

The Argentina national side have been using the FC Barcelona installations over the past two weeks as their home camp before travelling to Russia and due to the high number of Jewish residents that live in Barcelona, there's been demonstrations outside the training facilities over the past few days with pro and anti Israeli activists blocking the immediate area.

Of course they have, they are only interested in not offending anyone. Internally there was much discomfort at playing in a country guilty of such a massacre recently, Higuain commendably told the truth and said the right thing was done. There were no credible death threats, Argentina knew it was morally reprehensible to go ahead with the game.

The thing is AFA organised this friendly and curiously it was a complicated one to sort out. Originally it was going to be played at a neutral ground but both parties wanted it played in Israel. I just think it’s rather contradicting what’s occurred but indeed the correct thing was done and at this moment in time it wasn’t the moment to play such a high profile friendly.

Argentina owns one to Israel after they gave shelter to some Nazis when they escaped after WW2 :coffee:

There's a more simplistic issue there.  Argentina has one of the biggest Jewish populations in the world...  A lot of the Jewish-Spanish population moved to Buenos Aires (German Jewish too) at the time of WWII.  Many returned years later and now reside in Barcelona but obviously future generations were born there.

I saw the first half of that, as well as the highlights. The Socceroos were terrible in the first half but looked to have improved in the second. The Arzani goal was lucky but lets not take that away from him. He'll remember that goal for the rest of his life.
