Wasn't Suarez signed to play with Torres too? One of my drivers who's a Red told me that a few months ago when discussing the 2009 team and it would have made you deadly up top. Riera was the rug that brought the room together. We were so poor in the few games before he signed back in (I think) 08/09 and he gave us the width we desperately needed.

Its not really short-sightedness though, like Inter letting Pirlo go, its just the economic necessity of being in a smaller league next to the largest economically.

You could always rely on Kuyt for a big goal though. He was very underrated. If there was any weakness in that side it was down the left hand side. Aurelio at left back was always injured and like i said Riera started off promising but just faded away in the second half of the season. While typing this I've just remembered Yossi Benayoun who did ok on the left at times but could have certainly been upgraded on
