Spike 2,737 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) Post starting XIs of clubs that could have had a dynasty if not for short-sightedness, bad luck or other idiocy. Inter Meelano on the early 00s. Almost embarrassing the revolving door of talent they were/are. Ronaldo - Vieri Recoba Pirlo - Seedorf Di Baigio Cordoba -Meterazzi - Cordoba - Zanetti Peruzzi

Yeah, but he was utter shite, so no great loss. Di Canio's the Italian you're thinking of. Valencia spring to mind with the likes of Mata, Silva, and Villa. Wasn't Suarez signed to play with Torres too? One of my drivers who's a Red told me that a few months ago when discussing the 2009 team and it would have made you deadly up top. Glad as an Evertonian that things didn't work out that year for you.

It was the other side we didn't really have anyone. Riera started well and faded. Babel was never any good from the start.

Steve Bruce Almighty 2,946 Posted March 24, 2017 That team Graeme Souness had at Newcastle which could have seen a midfield and front 2 like this... Nobby Solano - Emre - Scott Parker - Albert Luque Alan Shearer - Michael Owen But no one could stay fit and well, Graeme Souness was manager.

Babel was never any good from the start. Eh. Kuyt was a good player and he'd put in a big shift but he clearly wasn't on the level of the rest of the team. Riera was the rug that brought the room together. We were so poor in the few games before he signed back in (I think) 08/09 and he gave us the width we desperately needed. Inverted 1,345 Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) Sometimes I wonder if Celtic could have made any waves in a competition like the Europa league if we could have held onto all the players that went to the PL. Dembele-Griffiths Rogic KiSY-Wanyama-Brown Tierney-Sviatchenko-Van Dijk-Lustig Forster In any case it would have been cool to see. Its not really short-sightedness though, like Inter letting Pirlo go, its just the economic necessity of being in a smaller league next to the largest economically. You could always rely on Kuyt for a big goal though. He was very underrated. If there was any weakness in that side it was down the left hand side. Aurelio at left back was always injured and like i said Riera started off promising but just faded away in the second half of the season. While typing this I've just remembered Yossi Benayoun who did ok on the left at times but could have certainly been upgraded on

Guest Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) Carvallo Trauco - Rodriguez - Galliquio - Corzo R. Torres - Christofer Gonzales Flores - Guastavino - Polo Ruidiaz Probably the best 11 that we could have had in the last 5-6 years. That front line was what we see in the 2016 Apertura and for me, it was the best front line we've had in my lifetime. They were scoring constantly and smashing anyone in their way.
