Just heard on Spanish radio that Chelsea representatives plus La Liga’s federative lawyer are in Madrid. This means that Chelsea have gone straight to the LFP headquarters to acquire Kepa’s federative license. This is the procedure for a buy-out clause activation and now the money and license will be handed in at the RFEF headquarters.

Do Chelsea have that kind of cash reserves, or does this mean outgoing deal(s) have been sorted?

Bit of both I'd imagine.

Sarri wanted Kepa at Napoli last season as a long term replacement for Reina. Add Jorginho, looks to be our board are prepared to back Sarri.

80 million for Kepa is absolutely bonkers. He's a very good keeper, but I'd be wanting a World beating superstar for that money. If Kepa is worth 80, then Ter Stegen and Oblak must be worth about 500 mil.

But Florentino was going to do it too, only Kepa no longer wanted to move to Real after what happened in January.

So it’s for real!

News coming in that Kepa has just got on a flight to Madrid from Bilbao... He will be signing the details on his football license stating he is buying his contract at Athletic out.

It could be as early as tonight when it’s announced at this rate unless something very odd happens.

Where the LFP Headquarters are I assume

Yeah, the LFP and RFEF headquarters are in Madrid and a buy-out clause must be executed by the player himself as in theory he’s buying out of his contract.

Eighty million? That's surely a joke?

Chelsea don’t spend money any more mate. Should start feeling sorry for them

The only joke is that you're surprised by this! Within thirty years, we'll have our first billion dollar footballer.

Who's actually been saying this?

I don't know where this reoccurring statement came from, but yeah it's kind of unusual for Chelsea to spend 80 million on one good player as opposed to 200 million on six shit players.

No it isn't. How does he command even close to a fee like that?

How can it possibly be that much? Is that a different currency or what? xD

Because he is very young and talented? Because it's his release clause written into his contract? Why did Alisson command such a fee? Kepa isn't some out-of-the-blue player that is mediocre.
