Honey Honey Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Newcastle U23's have been drawn against Sunderland first team They'll be desperate to smash the kids as that draw is the ultimate humiliation
Honey Honey Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 You have to pay £10 to watch Sunderland v Newcastle U23's on the official club website. Boooooo.
Honey Honey Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Half time 0-0. Sunderland having the better of it but the bairns are defending well.
Honey Honey Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Just now, Gunnersauraus said: @Harvsky it finished 4.0 It was a free hit for the kids. As Jack Ross said it's a no win game for Sunderland. They've avoided what would have been the most embarassing day in their history. One player comes out of it looking cringey

Honey Honey Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 There was more to it than that. 29 year old celebrates at the away fans for scoring against their U21's. It's symbolic of Sunderland's collapse.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted February 6, 2019 Subscriber Posted February 6, 2019 Shortlist for Player of the Round has been released: Christian Burgess (Portsmouth) Ollie Clarke (Bristol Rovers) Danny Mayor (Bury) Alim Ozturk (Sunderland)

Haven't been able to catch up as is so expensive to get their matches live here in the US. Regardless, i did hear about this and hope they get Bristol Rovers.
Guest Cannabis Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 A lot of fans are boycotting although it will be interesting to see how many will actually go on the day. It would be nice to see Portsmouth win a trophy again, even if it is this cup.
The Artful Dodger Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Nice one Pompey, probably a futile attempt to stop the death of English football but it's best to be remembered for having stood up to it.
Danny Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 They were that expensive when I went against Carlisle, ridiculous pricing.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted March 5, 2019 Subscriber Posted March 5, 2019 Bristol Rovers v Sunderland on Sky Sports now. An alright match so far. Both teams had some decent chances.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted March 6, 2019 Subscriber Posted March 6, 2019 Should be an alright final too. It's still a 'nothing' cup but silverware is silverware.
Smiley Culture Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 I was and in some ways, still am an advocate of clubs taking this seriously before the U23 teams joined, especially some of the bigger League One clubs as it’s a more than realistic chance of silverware and a cup final appearance, so it’s quite pleasing to see the two biggest names in the lower leagues, Portsmouth and Sunderland, in the final of this. Should be a very well attended game and on the face of it, a quality match between two of the best sides in the lower leagues.
Eco Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Quote Pompey are closing in on sales of 29,000 tickets for the Checkatrade Trophy final against Sunderland.
Eco Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 And it's final. Pompey win 5-4 in PKs after playing 120 minutes drawing at 2-2. Congrats to Pompey!
Smiley Culture Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Pompey the better team overall, so ultimately deserved winners of the competition. The first half was all Sunderland though there were a couple of moments Pompey looked dangerous and managed to hit the post with one chance. The second half and then extra time was all Portsmouth and I think taking off Grigg was a bad move by Jack Ross. Enjoyable game of Football and two huge clubs, it’s what that tournament should be about rather than the drama it is because of the inclusion of ‘B’ teams. Congratulations Pompey.
