I don't know the exact height of a football but I think if you go into a 50/50 challenge with part of your foot above the top of the ball then you're asking for a red card, but I don't agree that the Mane decision is the only time a red has been given for that. It is yet another grey area in the football rules though. If two guys go in with their boots at waist height because the ball is off the ground, and one of them unintentionally catches the other, then just because of luck that guy gets a red card and a three match ban and the other guy just gets a kick in the tummy. It's hypocritical. It’s the usual question of what the “rule” really is - is it the most intuitive reading of the laws as written, or is it how refs in practice actually respond to a particular kind of incident on a regular basis?
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 27, 2018 Subscriber Posted August 27, 2018 That Kane yellow wasn't even a foul. Worst part is you know another ref might even get a red card out for that. If slide tackles are somehow automatic fouls all of a sudden then the FA need to tell us.
Bluewolf Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Should have passed to Kane instead of going for glory... poor decision making there.. Kane would have been the better option by a country mile
Eco Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Manchester United are looking so much more crisp and fluid.

Just going for the tackle and clashing together and nothing more... This game won't be happy until it becomes a non contact sport altogether..

Nobody knows, it just seems to all be about precedent. Whenever a couple of red cards get given out for a new mild offence it goes from being controversial to "You can't get away with that these days" which has led to the game getting softer by the season and worse, means everyone who watches the game from the experts down to schmucks like us spends more time talking about referees and decisions than good attacking or defending after every game. Pretty bad.
Eco Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Kane's is a yellow card yet the Spur pushed down in the box is nothing?
Inverted Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Surely a penalty, no? No way Lucas can keep his balance at speed with Jones leaning into him like that.
Redcanuck Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Matic giving away the ball and Smalling making a great saving tackle. Commentator calling it Bobby Moore like. Didn't think I would every hear Smalling compared to Moore.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted August 27, 2018 Subscriber Posted August 27, 2018 That's a penalty. Horrendous decision.
Inverted Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Why is Harry Kane suddenly trying to turn and run at people? Lay it off and get in the box, big man.

Subscriber Dan+ Posted August 27, 2018 Subscriber Posted August 27, 2018 Spurs haven't turned up again here. They're consistently poor in games like this.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 27, 2018 Subscriber Posted August 27, 2018 Lloris looking a bit scatty there. Could do with a wee tipple at half time to settle his nerves perhaps.
Danny Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 How has the ref not given that as a penalty? How can you force a player to the floor and not get the ball either? Mental. Spurs have been shit, really shit. They're getting outplayed by Man Utd that's how shit they've been. Outplayed by a bus. Dele should have done better after dispossessing Matic, clear chance to take the lead. Lucas Moura lucky to be on the pitch.
Redcanuck Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Finishing has been poor for both teams, but I haven't seen United look as lively in a first half in awhile. Still no end product though.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted August 27, 2018 Subscriber Posted August 27, 2018 This is definitely ending 1-0 to Man Utd isn't it. It's the same old story.
Cicero Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Why is Kane constantly trying to dribble past the entire United team?

Eco Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 If I was a Spurs fan I'd be livid. The refs are absolutely fucking them in this game.
Inverted Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 This is legit like watching a midtable Scottish match. Curtis Main would have a brace by now in this game.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 27, 2018 Subscriber Posted August 27, 2018 Energetic game so far but both teams are lacking in the final third. Not much quality in the final ball. Lukaku has to do more for me. In a game like this a centre forward of his stature needs to be giving the centre backs something more to think about, but even at Everton he always struggled against his international team mates Vertonghen and Alderweireld.
Bluewolf Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Spurs messing things up for themselves in that final third almost every time they get forward..
