There's always rumours of manufacturers like Porsche and Volkswagen swimming around too. I really hope we don't see Mazepin end up driving F1 for years and years. A VW team with a livery like this wouldn't be awful
nudge Posted September 23, 2021 Author Posted September 23, 2021 VW, Porsche and Audi are only interested in becoming engine suppliers, I believe. Hope Andretti buys Haas.
Eco Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 @nudge and @Whiskey Would this be so bad? Or maybe

Moderator Tommy Posted December 15, 2021 Moderator Posted December 15, 2021 Inb4 they kick Mick out for another Russian.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 15, 2021 Subscriber Posted December 15, 2021 They can just give Mazepin both cars so he has a spare whenever he bins it in practice. Or whenever Hamilton puts him in the wall .

Hope the new car is decent, and Mick can actually race others for positions instead of just driving at the end of the field every race.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted February 25, 2022 Subscriber Posted February 25, 2022 Mazepin's seat apparently not guaranteed at this point in light of the Uralkali situation.

Might be a good opportunity to cut their losses then. From what I've read on here he's not very good?
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted March 3, 2022 Subscriber Posted March 3, 2022 Just seen a journalist claim that Haas have made their call on Mazepin, he's out and will be replaced by Pietro Fittipaldi. Not sure how reliable!
Moderator Tommy Posted March 3, 2022 Moderator Posted March 3, 2022 According to Sky Sports F1 Germany, Mazepin is gone from Haas. Pietro Fittipaldi will take over his seat.

It probably has more to do with Uralkali gone. They were the only reason he got that seat in the first place. But I do wonder if Fittipaldi is the ideal man for the seat. He's not a big step up IMO. Someone with more experience would probably be better. I heard Ferrari are still pushing for GIO to get the seat.
nudge Posted March 3, 2022 Author Posted March 3, 2022 I'm glad as it will be interesting to see how Mick compares to another driver. I'm not sure about Fittipaldi either, but he deserves a chance and I'm glad he's getting one. Schumacher and Fittipaldi names on the grid, nice
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted March 3, 2022 Subscriber Posted March 3, 2022 I'm not sure really. It's a very underwhelming driver despite the nostalgic surname. Hopefully he's better than Mazepin but if you look through his junior career, he hasn't taken the traditional F3/F2 pathway, which is fine, but his results elsewhere aren't incredibly consistent. A dominant Formula Renault championship in 2014 and winning F3.5 World Series in his second year in that formula. It's better than most, admittedly, but he hasn't been up to much since. His last proper championship was the F3 Asian championship for 2019-20 where Fittipaldi finished 5th behind Joey Alders, Jack Doohan, Jamie Chadwick, and even though he finished 3rd ahead of Chadwick in the standings I'm leaving his name to last for effect... Nikita Mazepin.
