  1. Working from home is fucking shite.

  2. A bit unrelated, but in 2016 we were close to getting a SARS vaccine (the original SARS, that is), but nobody was interested in funding it as the virus was a distant memory at the time. Makes you wonder if it could have provided a cross-protection for the new one too...

  3. It's not always so rosy. There are plenty of advantages as there are disadvantages to working from home. But it's something people will need to learn to manage and deal with for the next few months at least...

  4. I manage 9 people in this situation. 2 of my team are struggling with the lack of social contract. One lives alone, the other with a partner. Another 4 of them are parents going insane with young kids out of childcare or school completely disrupting their day, and with them needing to take leave or work till midnight to make up the lost time.

  5. I was hoping to have been to all these by the end of 2021:- Trip 1: Portugal(Lisbon), Spain(various parts of Andalucia and various parts of Catalunya, ending in Barcelona to go and see someone) over a few weeks. Trip 2: Italy and Switzerland(where in each country? I hadn't decided, probably Roma in Italy) and maybe end it with a day in Germany over a week or so. Trip 3: New York and somewhere in Canada, 5 days in each. Trip 4: Florida(Miami?), Colombia(Medellin), Mexico(hadn't decided which part) over 2 weeks. Had it not been for Covid-19(should it not be 20?), then the money would have been there for the first 3 trips already(without going skint at the same time) and by the time I had gotten through them, I'd have had money for the 4th. That was atleast the intention. I'd have already been and done the first one and would be planning the 2nd now. With trip 4, you can take direct flights between them all and back to Manchestoh, which is why I looked into those, some other countries are a farce to reach without tons of stop overs and nonsense. I'd squeeze Jamaica in between Colombia and Mexico, but for some reason, getting flights between those countries is difficult, I don't know why? I can always look into it though as a couple of days in Jamaica would be worth it if you're travelling that distance. I have looked into all these and know for certain that you can travel between them, so the decisions have been based on a mix of countries I'd like to visit and the convenience of being able to travel between them. I also see a nice mix there. One of the main reasons for New York is(or was) to become more accustomed to longer flights. There are also some fantastic Canadian cities only a short flight away, presenting the opportunity to visit two new countries at once. We'll have to see what happens, because I won't be affording fuck all if this bullshit continues. Having to put it on hold isn't a big deal as you can go once travel restrictions are lifted again, however it's the money being spent without any being earned. Making money through all this would have been a blessing in disguise, but losing so much is a massive set back. How @Stan is right now would have been perfect, i.e not taking a financial blow(or not too much of one) due to still being able to work, while not spending much due to the lock down. But we'll see, I can still redeem myself if I'm back in work within a month or so. Oh well, fuck Mexican beaches let's go to Southampton @Lucas Where will you be heading first when you can? @nudge, @Inti Brian

  6. In terms of providing additional 'hope', there is also suggestion/speculation that having passed common colds caused by certain coronaviruses different from SARS-CoV-2 may offer partial immunity to some extent as it has been reported the existence of SARS-CoV-2-reactive CD4+ T cells among individuals not exposed to COVID-19. https://www.cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092-8674(20)30610-3

  7. Speaking of Shark films, was it Jaws 3 that had a roar from the shark that was directly taken out of a Tom and Jerry episode?

  8. Watched Aamis an Indian film which makes it into my favourite Fucked-up movies. This is also a really well made, and visually pretty and we'll acted film, with melodious background score. @Mel81x give this watch. I will also recommend this to @...Dan. I know you like a well made fucked up story and don't mind foreign flicks.

  9. I thought the Chinese and the French had discovered that only a few infected develop immunity, and they're not even sure if it's permanent. That was always he main issue of the herd immunity strategy. It wasn't just that it gambled the lives of potentially hundreds of thousands of people, but it did so without any solid scientific evidence that it would work. If you do nothing, and decide just to weather the first wave, you run the risk that after all the suffering and death, you're in no better position than anyone else to face the follow-up waves.

  10. A lass I used to know when I was younger has recently just found her 16 year old son hanging. Fucking horrible news. I didn't know him personally(not like that matters) but I knew his mother from when I was younger and she lived near me. It makes you wonder if this has any relation to the current situation? I mean suicide is scarily high among young males in this country as it is, but it makes you wonder what role this could have played. It's absolutely dreadful news either way, no young lad should be taking their life.

  12. My favourite film of all time is Jaws. I hold an interest in Shark movies generally as a result but bar a few, in the main they have just got progressively worse and worse which is a shame. But I really enjoyed this too. Not too long, fair degree of action considering she's essentially stuck in a bit of a chess game with the shark, and as you say, visually beautiful. It didn't feel like a cheap, straight to DVD film either. And Blake Lively is gorgeous.
