The French Dispatch (2021)
So it was different short stories, all based in the same French town of Ennui. Well, what can I say. It was beautiful. It lacked a bit of the emotions from previous Wes Anderson movies, and some short stories were more entertaining than others, but it was certainly a full blown Wes Anderson experience.
The cast was ridiculous. Benicio del Torro, Adrian Brody, Lea Seydoux, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Timotheé Chalamet, Frances McDormand, Edward Norton, Jeffrey Wright, Saoirse Ronan, Willem Defoe, Stephan Park, Henry Winkler, Liev Schreiber.... I mean wow. Christoph Waltz was just there for a few seconds with almost no lines.
Anyway, I enjoyed it, but it's nowhere near as good as The Grand Budapest Hotel for example. But still... peak Anderson somehow.
7.8/10
Jeffrey Wright was amazing in this btw, and I can see him being one of Wes Anderson's regulars in the future. His voice and delivery are perfect for his films.
