I haven't shared this before but ive never been so depressed about the future of this country. I have a fairly stable job that pays well but if my mortgage was up for renewal I'd have to sell as there's no way I'd be able to make repayments at 6%. I live in what was until about six months ago an attractive place for people in there 20's and 30's to buy because we have fast trains to London. Not any more. There's so many houses up for sale either because landlords have had enough or people need to downsize urgently. I've already had to make 'smart sacrifices' with my quality of life in preparation for the energy bills to come in but were so reliant on electricity its really difficult to do so. I've never needed to live on credit cards but I think by next year that's a likely situation. I've never been anxious about the future but this is the first time I'm beginning to feel it. Even when Brexit happened and Covid started I felt confident that 'in five years things will change' but I don't get that vibe any more. I feel I may have been naive and over estimated the competency of all the top seeded politicians in this country. It saddens me the things we used to take for granted my Son may not have the luxury of doing when he grows up. Like shopping trips to America because the £ was so strong and drinking regularly in the choice of any pub/club. Pints were close to three pounds when I was 18. They're now around seven pound + where I grew up and I know my yearly wage hasn't doubled. That's a minor example but you get my drift.7 points

It's been a little while since we went now but here are some pictures from our holiday to Croatia. ...And for a little brucie bonus, we took this shot of Mostar Bridge on a day trip to Bosnia which was an experience. Thoroughly recommend it if you haven't been and all of that was without even getting down to the heavily tourist infected Dubrovnik.6 points

I was trying to make a joke this morning while I was taking blitzkrieg shit before work, and by before work I mean 1 hour late because I’m cool like that. And ‘pearl necklace’ was a leading contender with ‘Sucked Tony Khan soul out of his cut dick’ as number two but I didn’t like either because I have high standards for throw away shitposts but I am glad you showed up and did the dirty work I didn’t want to.1 point

A goalkeeper has scored but I don't think it's been a match-winning goal. Robinson, Begovic, Howard all come to mind.1 point

No goalkeeper has more goal involvements in Premier League history [1 goal & 4 assists] The only goalkeeper to score a Premier League match-winning goal Assisted goals for Mohamed Salah against Manchester United & Manchester City 2 Golden Gloves in 4 Premier League seasons Alisson Becker Ladies and Gentlemen1 point

When I was a kid Robbie Fowler was my favourite player. And he's still my favourite player of all time. Especially after seeing this:1 point

Nice. I was in Makarska the first time when I was 2 years old. And then visited 7 more times. Always stayed in a nearby town called Tucepi. But I always prefered the Makarska vibe. Not too small, not too big, nice promenade etc. Have you eaten a burger at Hambi? Secret advice. And yea, Mostar is unique. But also a bit sad. Very touristy in the center, but a lot of poverty in the outskirts, full with beggars.1 point

Oh yeah, you actually mentioned that. Well, if you ever decide to go back to see more of them, you will have to let me know.1 point

He can dissolve parliament but its something that hasn't been done for around 100 years. There was also quite a lot of pressure on him to step back from politics the older his mother got so I can't imagine him wanting to get involved in parliamentary matters.1 point

Croatia looks amazing, but then all of Southern Europe is. Only 3 weeks now until Tenerife. I've also decided I'm going to pop over to la Gomera for the day since it's only an hour on the ferry. Did you visit la Gomera @nudge? That and Fuerteventura are actually the 2 Canary Islands that fascinate me the most.1 point

By acting like he's bigger than the team he's not really helping anybody - Ten Hag would be doing the right thing freezing him out tbh. Basically acting the exact opposite of what you'd expect from your old and experienced superstar in terms of setting an example for the rest of the squad.1 point

Did anyone catch this last night? I thought this was thoroughly refreshing and brilliant from Amazon to interview both opposing managers and let them ask eachother a question before the game.1 point

It is literally the most crazy time I've ever known politics. It's all on the bad leadership & negotiations they've had since the 2019 election. Most of them know how awful they've been. If Labour do not end up as the biggest party next time round I will lose any remaining faith in the voting public. I do agree with much of what Simon Jordan had to say on politics in the Talksport radio show the other day. It is bizarre how reactionary politics & politicians are to the media these days.1 point

Two Impact Midcarders returning to WWE this week. They must be crying with happiness that Hunter didn't watch anything they've done for the last two years.1 point

Christian Benteke has signed for DC United. A player who has scored more Premier League goals than the likes of Fernando Torres, Carlos Tevez, Eric Cantona, Luis Suarez, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez and Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang. An incredible loss to the competition that will be sorely missed.1 point

This is something else that leaves a bad taste in the mouth, I found out about this a couple of weeks ago that I never knew before, Anyone that becomes PM is then entitled to a yearly salary up to £150K per year for the rest of their lives and that includes anyone still alive... Think about that expense to the taxpayer on a yearly basis... rewarding mediocrity.. it's fucking disgraceful!!0 points
