Yes! If you walk that promenade now, it's mental to think that it was once a busy main road. Also most of the inner city is now car free, and mucher nicer for a stroll. Like this road too. It used to look like that: Now it's this: I said this before. If you haven't been here for 20-30 years, and come back now, you'll hardly recognize the place.5 points

Find it quite odd people bemoan some tendencies of modern football, dont know whether you're one of them mind but there arte certainly a few on this forums, still on the other hand always want to see good players concentated at the biggest clubs, which is one of the most damaging developments of modern football, in my honest opinion. Actually would like to see more excellent players at medium sized first tier clubs. That would strenghten the competetion in many leagues, including the English Premier League.3 points

Well, he tried his luck in Mönchengladbach and Hoffenheim (who were bigger teams than Freiberg back then), but he only seems to work in Freiburg.2 points

I like him. The injuries have halted his progression but hopefully he can put them behind him now and be available a lot more often.1 point

She lived until 1996 too. If they made her life into a movie, and you didn't know it was a true story, you'd think it's all a bit far-fetched.1 point

News on the grapevine about a couple of up and coming projects in film.. News that Kurt Russell will be returning for the role of Snake Pliskin in another Escape from New York movie Also another Alien film is apparently in the pipeline... Earlier this month, news broke that Noah Hawley’s upcoming FX series based on Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic, with Scott serving as an executive producer, would begin filming in 2023. Now, it appears that Scott still thinks there are still more “Alien” stories to tell, as he has signed on to produce a new film written and directed by Fede Álvarez. While plot details are being kept under wraps, the film will be based on an original pitch from Álvarez, who is best known for directing the 2016 horror flick “Don’t Breathe.” Many cinephiles view “Alien” as the quintessential science-fiction horror movie, but recent films in the franchise such as “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant” (both directed by Scott) have leaned decidedly towards the sci-fi side. With the horror-loving Álvarez’s involvement, it is probably a safe bet to assume that will balance out. According to sources in The Hollywood Reporter, “Álvarez is a rabid fan of the franchise and casually pitched a take to Scott many years ago. The idea remained implanted in Scott’s brain until late last year when he called Alvarez out of the blue and asked him if the younger filmmaker was still up for it.” The film will stream on Disney-owned Hulu, with no theatrical plans in the cards just yet, but (also Disney-owned) 20th Century Studios says that is a feature, not a bug. 20th Century President Steve Asbell said Álvarez’s pitch “was just a really good story with a bunch of characters you haven’t seen before.” He said that the decision to release the film on Hulu is an artistic one, intended to allow Álvarez to realize his vision without box office pressure. “It’s not a film that has to be all things to all people with those gargantuan budgets,” Asbell said of the film. “They get to be authentically what they are. And this is closer to its genre roots.”1 point

Honestly, it probably comes down to the amount of pressure that are put on players at bigger clubs. At Freiburg players are nurtured and I really do think that environment brings out the best in them. Hell, I'd run through brick walls for Streich.1 point

I had an argument with a car enthusiast friend that cars take too much space in modern cities and that is by design. If cities are designed with public transport first mind there will be still plenty of space for roads and infrastructure for cars but not the other way around.1 point

That's a work of beauty. A few more trees would be nice though.1 point

I’m not gonna lie, the more I play the new GoW series the less I like it, especially Ragnarok. Too much talking, too many jokes and quips, it tries to be a more ‘mature’ story but it presents itself much more immaturely. I don’t like the faux-openworld so much, the lake was cool in the fourth but this one feels kinda tacked on. It is very on rails as well, everything kinds funnels the player in one direction, like a minecart. The combat boils down to how to cheese an encounter, because the game offers no crowd control techniques, or any sort of strategy besides kiting. You know it reminds me of a Disney movie or a Marvel. It’s hard to believe this is even related to the original trilogy.1 point

I often wonder about a parallel universe, where Manuel Neuer is a true Schalker who stays at the club to become an absolute club legend, instead of being a glory hunting whore.0 points
