Not sure if this feels inappropriate or not but I was taken away on a surprise weekend away to Krakow. Really great time. Would recommend. I've got to say though, Auschwitz...wow. That will stick with me for life now. Never seen anything like that before, and whilst it was incredibly harrowing, I felt completely vindicated in going. On a side note, I would actually say that it would be amazing if all middle schools could arrange to take their students over and see something like this. Too many kids are entirely influenced by Social Media, at an age (13-16) where they are thinking their little gangsta's, and show little respect for those around them and have no concept as to what these people went through. You can read all the books in the world and see videos but when you go there in the flesh, it's a different kettle of fish. Sorry, completely digressed. Here's a few I took from Auschwitz anyway. If anyone's ever thought of going and had doubts, I'd just go. In a weird way, you'll be glad you did.3 points

I personally don't get it. A flight from Munich to Paris is just a bit over an hour... So he flies in the morning, attends some show, and then takes another flight home on the same day. How is that a problem, if he has a day off? Surely, it's his free time, and he has a right to decide how he spends it? As long as he's not drinking and partying for two nights straight or taking part in some dangerous or exerting activities, I don't see how would it be an issue? What if he wanted to visit family in Stuttgart which is over 2 hour trip by car, would Brazzo throw a fit too?... I'm pretty sure that if it wasn't for Neuer's incident and Bayern's recent dip in form, nobody would have even mentioned it...3 points

You're correct, it's not and I got to be honest, it's not something I know a lot about. Just been googling some of it out of curiosity and it looks truly shocking. I had no idea so many were killed. If I'm ever that way, I probably would see that. I see there is a film The Killing Fields, available to watch free on Prime so I'm going to get on that soon so cheers cor bringing that to my attention.2 points

Yeah, I suspected that you were thinking of distances in North American standards A somewhat related anecdote, my dad once went from Wuppertal to Paris by car with one of the Wuppertaler SV stars back then in the 70s FOR BREAKFAST on the weekend That's about a 6 hour trip... Just to put it into perspective, haha. Nobody batted and eyelid, although granted, they did not posted it on Instagram either back then2 points

Sunset! thanks! Thanks! I just wasn't quite fast enough on this one but I still liked the idea too There was a little kid running around scattering the ducks and birds I tried to get some of that to but nothing turned out. One of my favourite spots anyways thats like a 5 min drive away. I love it so far. So many features and options.. still alot to learn but it felt great again. I also realized when I went to wireless upload to my computer it doesnt have a wireless card Definitely noticed my one lens is kinda dated, the auto focus is fairly slow but thats a problem for another day. Got to play around with a few different lenses anyways so worked out great.2 points

I was so sure that nothing would happen in the remaining transfer window, I haven't even bothered to read the news There were rumours about Maximilian Philipp, but I just couldn't believe it. Another clever transfer given our resources; I wonder if there's an option to buy at the end of the season. Philipp should at least provide competition for Ducksch, at the very least! A bit disappointed that Burke didn't work out for us; he did score some very important goals at the start of the season, but was unable to build on that, unfortunately.2 points

My first foray with some nice weather since picking up the new girl. I played around last weekend but weather was shite so nothing really turned out but was a good refresher. Few shots here I liked in the end. I still need to learn some editing here but one step at a time so these are unedited. I liked the first one here underexposed but its a little too much probably so Im sure I could make it a better when I dive into that world at some point. The last one I tried to get but was a little slow on the shutter speed as its a tad blurry but I still tried. Just a local man made lake in the middle of the city, kind of tucked away. Lots of birds2 points

The Killing Fields is a pretty good movie, I think watching it as a kid was the first time I learned about the events there. There's also a new-ish film available on Netflix and based on a well-known memoir of a survivor, called First They Killed My Father. I would actually recommend it over The Killing Fields, as that one is told mostly from the perspective of a Western journalist, whereas First They Killed My Father is authentically Cambodian and uses Cambodian actors, music, and language.1 point

Honestly I will be going there soon, an incredible piece of history. It's somewhere I feel I need to visit during my life time.1 point

I'm not sure if the schools here in England do, but if they don't, and I'm sure most do not, they really really should. If I had a son or daughter, I'd 100% encourage them to see this when I felt they were old enough.1 point

Ah okay. Emil Meisen was my next door neighbour, until he died last year. There were always rumours that he was a footballer, some said he was a banker. Turns out, he was both. He was quite a nice guy. Bit of a typical German pensioner though, making sure nobody sits in their car with a running engine in front of his house etc. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emil_Meisen1 point

PM me your profile link when you get it... Or post it in the Photography thread, if you don't mind publicity I've had an account there for ages, and while I haven't used it for quite a while, I'd love to get back into it, too...1 point

Check out 500px instead of Instagram for photo stuff, it's like Instagram but purely for photography enthusiasts and minus the "influencers" and all the drama!1 point

So Eagles vs Chiefs in the Superbowl. Chiefs scored a last second field goal to avoid OT against Bengals. I'll be backing Eagles.1 point

I didn't know the statistics in depth, but yea that sounds decent. He wasn't nowhere near that when he played for us in the Bundesliga, so I thought he had become rather invisible again.1 point

I'm not too critical of Ducksch, personally. Even if he won't ever be a goal-machine in the 1. Bundesliga and even if there are some other things to be unhappy with, he still managed to get 3 goals and 7 assists so far, not so bad for someone in a promoted team! He still has something to offer to the team, in my opinion.1 point

Haha, since you said it last year, now I always think of it as Bratwurst 12h too I have no idea who these NBC commentators are... I watched the stream with the IMSA Radio/Radio Le Mans commentary, they do a really good job... And yeah, I generally also struggle with American commentators1 point

Brilliant shots, @Viva la FCB! I love the moodiness of some of them (the first one, the last one, and the skyline one), and this one is probably my favourite: Love how much there is going on in that picture! The swimming birds, the flying birds, the one caught in the mid-jump and all the water drops around it. Really nice capture So how does the new camera feel???1 point

Some lovely pictures that! I like the one of the sunset (sunrise?) and the skyline shot! But they're all great!1 point

I assume nobody else watched Daytona? Turned out to be quite a race.. The final hours were fun to watch, and the final minutes were dramatic. They actually needed a photo finish to determine the winner in the LMP2 class Proton Competition car managed to overtake the leading CrowdStrike Racing right at the finish line and won by just 0.016 seconds Bring on Bathurst 12h next weekend...1 point

Cancelo going to Munich on loan with an option to buy, he had a falling out with Pep and several players so Pep's moved him on, apparently he was a toxic influence. shame, top player on his day0 points
