I heard today that the 2018 F1 championship, which concluded on Sunday, hadn't even got underway the last time Lukaku scored at Old Trafford, and that approximately 92 million babies have been born in this time, far exceeding the 75m fee that United paid Everton for his services.

Manchester United: Disabled fans want netting to protect them from missiles

By Simon Stone

Netting was placed in front of visiting Juventus fans seated above the section for disabled Manchester United supporters at Old Trafford during a recent Champions League tie

Disabled Manchester United fans have called for netting to be put up at Old Trafford to protect them from missiles hurled by away fans.

The disabled supporters' section is below where visiting fans are housed.

Manchester United Disabled Supporters Association (MUSDA) says flares, bottles filled with urine, coins and pies thrown by travelling supporters have landed in their section.

Netting was used for Champions League games against Juventus and Young Boys.

Now MUSDA is pressing to make that permanent.

A recent fans' forum meeting was told: "If granted, it would come as a great relief to all those who have suffered over the years from the various items that have been thrown in our direction."

It is understood the club have the procedure under review and are making decisions on a case-by-case basis.

His agent has said if Manchester United want to get rid of him, they won't be "mutually terminating" his contract - Mourinho will be getting his pound of flesh for being sacked.

Honestly though, the Mourinho tenure at Manchester United is going just swimmingly. From spending around a billion to not really show much for that expenditure, then complaining about the quality of the squad, to saying that United's heritage is basically in being shite - which is hilarious, falling out with players and throwing them under the bus, and him saying they'll need a miracle for their billion pound squad to make the top 4. Now he's said last season was a success because they finished above clubs that have greater potential than them... ignoring the fact that it's his job to make sure that Manchester United have potential, or ignoring the fact that he used to mock managers/clubs for small-mindedness (remember that "specialist in failure") stuff.

This is all quality entertainment.

Definitely an absolute cunt who has been left behind by modern coaches but still one of the best managers of all time no matter how you want to spin it. Best thing for him would be to move to international football (though I dont think he's suited to that either) or just retire. He might just stay at United though and carry on profiting from the fact that the United fans are too stubborn to turn on him en masse.

Manchester United's Shola Shoretire has become the youngest ever player to appear in the Uefa Youth League at the age of 14 years and 314 days.

The winger was introduced as a substitute during the Reds' 2-1 win at Valencia on Wednesday.

Harvey Neville, the 16-year-old son of England women's manager Phil Neville, also made his debut in the competition.

Nicky Butt's Under-19 team won five and drew one of their Group H fixtures to qualify as winners ahead of Juventus.

As well as criticising his starting line-up Mourinho expressed his frustration at having to make substitutions he "did not want to make".

"I expect (better) from my players, especially players that week in, week out, you ask me 'why don't they play?', 'why they don't they start?' the United manager said.

"(It) was a good match to play, a match without any kind of pressure, a match in a competition that everybody likes to play.

"And, in the end, my team improved, really, when I made the changes that I didn't want to make, which is a little bit of frustration because I didn't want to play the three players that I played in the second half."

Fergie himself had a fair share of the responsibility leaving United in the mess as well. Splashing out on van Persie to make sure he got his one last title and not addressing the countless 30+ year old players that needed replacing fairly imminently for the clubs long term benefit.

This, as well as not having the bottle to blood our 2011 FAYC winning side, instead preferring to play dross like Anderson, Berbatov, Nani, those shit Brazilian fullbacks etc. I love Fergie to bits but he definitely was way past his best by the time he went

Yep, I'm pretty adamant that and the fact David Gill was leaving were two key factors in his decision to retire.

Zidane, Ancelotti and Jardim the names going about.

I would definitely opt for the Zidane possibility.  It's also been reported for some time that he's been studying English. (Not that this necessarily is a requirement in Manchester )

Anthony Martial: Man Utd extend deal for France forward

By Simon Stone

BBC Sport

1 hour ago | Man Utd

Manchester United have triggered the option of a year's extension on the contract of France forward Anthony Martial.

The 23-year-old's current deal would have expired in the summer but will now run to 2020.

United took a similar move with their Spain keeper David de Gea last month.

Martial's representatives remain in discussions with United over a new separate deal beyond the contract that has been extended to 2020.

United signed Martial from Monaco for an initial £36m in 2015, making him the world's most expensive teenager in the sport.
