Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted May 17, 2021 Subscriber Posted May 17, 2021 Weirdest thing ever eaten - Silk Worm Pupae. Approved, why? Because it was so crunchy on the outside with bamboo shoot and everything else around it that when you get to the jelly innards you would never be able to tell it was actually a worm of kinds. Very popular in the North-Eastern part of India (Assam). I ate it at an eco-village where they were adamant that I should try it. Its called "Eri Polu" and when you look at it from a distance they look like little sausages and I had no clue what it was till I was eating my third one. Needless to say I didn't stop.

I'm not mentally prepared for worms and larvae... I'm willing to try different insects, organ meat, half-developed eggs and what not, but that plump appearance of worms is just a no go for me
nudge Posted May 17, 2021 Author Posted May 17, 2021 Chicken feet was another one for me... Chewy af, all skin, cartilage and tendons, also looks like something from an alien movie. 3/10, the sauce was lovely.

Toinho Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Pretty sure I tried a cricket once. But scorpion on a stick wins.
Dr. Gonzo Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Wtf is weird about chip butty? I had a meal, I don't know the proper name for it tbh, but it was a boiled cows head. I had about 4 bites, but it was too disturbing and the texture in my mouth was horrible.

They used to serve gator bits at a restaurant we went to in college and imo it was tasty.

People here eat anything as long is the animal's meat is allowed Once you get past the feeling that you're eating testicles it is quite tasty. Many aphrodisiac myths are related around these dishes.

Liver pate on baguette or black bread is indeed great... I usually put some pickles on top of that, too
