Results - United States Grand Prix

The first part of a double update:

The United States Grand Prix weekend started with a shock pole position for Charles Leclerc. Although @Whiskey was brave enough to predict Oscar Piastri to take pole and not Max Verstappen, it didn't serve him any better than the rest of the sheep who backed the Dutchman.

Sunday's Grand Prix, after the disqualification of Lewis Hamilton, saw a lot of people pick up good points. Verstappen was unanimously backed for victory, so everyone cancelled each other out as usual in this regard. Everyone apart from @MUFC and @Whiskey also went for Lando Norris in P2, bagging them another 5 points each after Hamilton's disqualification boosted the McLaren driver from 3rd. @Whiskey still picked up a couple of points here with Norris in P3. The big plaudits, though, go to @Coma, who secured all 20 of his points this weekend by predicting a perfect podium with Carlos Sainz in 3rd. Nobody else predicted a top three finish for the Spaniard.

The other predictions rewarded those who had faith in the drivers involved. Nobody quite nailed Nico Hulkenberg's 11th placed finish, but @MUFC and @Tommy backed him to nick a point in 10th, and were therefore close enough to pick up 2 points each for this prediction. The same two competitors, along with @The Palace Fan, were also rewarded for their faith in Logan Sargeant. The Williams driver didn't cause a red flag throughout the weekend, and while he didn't cover himself in glory by qualifying 20th for both the Grand Prix and the Sprint, he actually achieved a landmark first point in F1 on the Sunday, contrary to the disaster predicted by most of us!

Here's what the US results do/did for the standings:

@Coma was this week's highest scorer, jumping back up to 3rd as a result and just one point behind @Stan. @MUFC and @Whiskey swap places in the middle of the table. @Tommy closes in on @nudge in the battle for 7th while @The Palace Fan separates himself from @DeadLinesman having previously been joint bottom.

Aston Martin were this week's top scorers in the Constructors' championship and have managed to draw level with Alpine as a result. Mercedes out-scored Red Bull and Ferrari and move into 2nd place as a result.

Results - Mexican Grand Prix

For a second consecutive week, nobody managed to predict pole position correctly as Charles Leclerc surprised everyone with the best lap on Saturday. And for a second consecutive week, normal service was resumed on Sunday as Max Verstappen cruised to victory, setting everyone up with their 5 point baseline. Everyone predicted a podium for Lewis Hamilton but @Stan, @MUFC, @nudge, @Whiskey and @The Palace Fan were the happier half of the field, nailing it with 2nd place for another 5 points while the rest of us had to settle for 2 points. Nobody predicted a Charles Leclerc podium so no perfect 20 pointers this time around.

Leclerc's pole position and run to 3rd was better than anyone predicted for him this weekend, but @Stan, @Whiskey, @The Palace Fan, @DeadLinesman and @OrangeKhrush were all just one place away and therefore bag another 2 points each for this week's random driver pick.

The bonus question for this race saw a large haul of points handed out, as Lewis Hamilton's fastest lap on the final lap saw Mercedes score 27 points, level with Ferrari whose drivers finished 3rd and 4th. @Whiskey, @DeadLinesman and @OrangeKhrush all backed the Italian outfit but @Stan, @MUFC, @The Palace Fan and @Coma join them on scoring an extra 5 points each having gone for the Silver Arrows.

Here's what it does to the standings with three races and the season's predictions to add at the end:

A second consecutive low-scoring week for @RandoEFC and @Stan achieving the joint-highest score of the weekend sees the gap at the top sliced to less than 20 points. @Whiskey and @MUFC swap places again in 5th and 6th. @The Palace Fan was another 17-pointer this weekend and he now climbs to 8th ahead of @Tommy.

In the Constructors' standings, Alpine got the biggest score this week and consigned Aston Martin back to the bottom spot. Leaders Red Bull were outscored comfortably by Mercedes and Ferrari and the top three are now covered by just 4 points heading into the final stages of the season.
