In this case the money has been made available by them, it's the manager and recruitment team that have managed to balls things up. Or so we're told. I'm also happy for Morata as the Burnley players were after him the minute he got on the pitch, after a few failed attempts he was eventually flattened by one of them. He then went on to score and assist a goal. Maybe that's the reason sometimes it's hard to play football in the Premier League compared to other leagues. You actually get players after you! Instead of going out there to play football, they're out there in an attempt to sort you out or rile you up as what used to happen with Diego Costa and didn't take much work to achieve. That FSG sanctioned over £130m for two players but told Klopp that if he couldn't get them he couldn't have anyone? I think not.

No, I'm just not certain that the money was available in the first place, certainly not without the sale of Coutinho

This even before that mental Neymar move from Barça to PSG... That's the problem! Suddenly Liverpool found themselves in a situation that they couldn't pay for the players they wanted without doing something stupid.

Yeah they bid that amount for a player who they knew wasn't really obtainable, so why wouldn't you have a plan B? It's good that they've taken a strong stance with the Coutinho situation but I'm not sure it'll last to the end of the window, we'll see. I'm getting more and more doubtful that we'll see any new additions unless Coutinho goes. This is what the Gillett and Hicks era has done to me, made me question everything! A Newcastle fan I know wanted to bet £100 with me back in May that Newcastle would finish above Palace this season. Now neither of us are willing to make the bet as we both think that both clubs are going to try and out shit each other.

roversgirl
Spurs looking so good! Kyle Walker-Peters has had a very impressive debut, its a credit to him that you wouldn't have thought it was his debut! Newcastle look poor and what disgraceful behaviour from their so called captain Shelvey...he doesn't deserve their captaincy given today and his history. The Newcastle fans booing Alli is very disrespectful...he has done nothing wrong.

Guest
I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on English football, but I have seen a few of the top teams last season. I really like Spurs and City. Spurs play lovely football and have seriously underrated talent. Alli, Eriksen and Kane are class. Keep them all fit and sign Davinson Sanchez and I think Spurs can win the league the season. If Guardiola finds his consistency though, they are also a favourite. Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva are all really good and young. Experience could be a factor that they are missing compared to previous seasons, but the talent is there. I'm a bit concerned about the midfield though. In terms of 10's, they are fine. I'm not a big fan of Fernandinho though and Gundogan is a player I always miss out. I think Yangel Herrera could make a good rotation option when he comes back from his New York City loan. Those I think will make the top 2, although not sure in what order.
