The commentary is unbelievably bias towards Huddersfield and desperate for us to be hammered. Words like fierce and storm are laughable.

Ok enough first half for an away day. Weaknesses in 2nd string players who we have no choice to play plus Atsu. Lascelles looks dogshit. Manquillo always has a mistake in him.

I would get Atsu off for Jacob Murphy.

Gayle doesn't look match sharp. Joselu for him on 60 perhaps.

Hopefully this is where Rafa comes into his own.

A fair bit of squad weakness defensively on show that could shoot ourselves in the foot though.

I agree with that as well, they've hardly been up to much either.

I agree with the overall vibe on here and with what Henry said, lack of quality.

I don't blame the commentary being biased towards Huddersfield considering its their first game in the Premier League. The novelty will soon wear off as the season wears on given that they'll be shown less.

Bakayoko starts. Morata and Pedro as well.

Risky rushing in Bakayoko

Pedro not in the first XI in the line up that just flicked across on sky sports now?

Totally abject performance from Newcastle here. Seems to be a disconnect between each part of the pitch. Ritchie and maybe Merino the best of a bad bunch.

When you're one of the bottom 8 teams in quality in the league you don't have the capability to be without 3 of your first choice back 4.

From the 35th minute of the Spurs game when we lost our 2nd defender to injury in that match alone it became apparent that this is going to be a long struggle to get going this season.

The decision to DOWNGRADE our backup right back from Vurnon Anita to a Spanish player who was being kept out of one of the worst sides in Premier League history by Billy Jones last season looks criminal. Maybe that was a panic buy to get numbers in after realising we don't have any money and can't shift the dross to freee up wage space.

Diame's legs are GONE, sell. Disappointed our £12m signing got given a measly 10 minutes.

We were poor but didn't deserve to lose the game. We lack a number 10 and we won't sign one either. Hopefully there's a fire at the Ashley household.

I thought Huddersfield were the better team, but it was two bad teams really.

I can't see Benitez still being the manager after the transfer window if no more new faces come in. Absolutely impossible to work under Mike Ashley.

Only watched the second half of the Newcastle Huddersfield match, and there was lack of quality on both the sides. Mind you, if Joselu and Perez had taken their chances then things could have been different.

How slow and poor is Diame. He pretty much just jogs on. Murphy and the Spanish midfielder (who seemed tired as the match went on) seemed like the only quality players.

Huddersfield weren't impressive either apart from that moment of quality. Reckon they will struggle too.

I think it is criminal that Samir Nasri is going to Antalyaspor because we don't have any room on our wage bill.

Where on earth has it all gone?

It's just a poor side. I expected a lot more from Newcastle this summer.

Ummm, Diame's right there.

Nah but seriously I hadn't no idea he was at Newcastle, and I was surprised at the fact he literally can't run anymore. I was even more shocked when I read he's only 30.
