Japan can be either ‘Nippon’ or ‘Nihon’. China is even more complicated because it depends on the translation and the dialect, there are quite literally dozens of way to express the name.

Most countries have different names in different languages.
Italia
Danmark
Sverige
Norge
Suomi
Nederland
Hrvatska

so on and so forth.
Germany for instance is called Alemagne in French, and Alemannia in Spanish.

Which is why I specifically mentioned exonyms in English.

U.S. air raided all but five Japanese cities prior to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 88% urban area was destroyed in seventeen cities, Kyoto alone had 65 raids.

This makes the nukes was a last resort to end war argument untenable.

They were a convenient excuse used by Japanese generals to end the war on somewhat honorable terms. Always makes for a good litmus test on whether people truly grasp how history works.

Huh? The Emperor intervened and forced the war council to surrender. The whole thing is a sham anyway, the USA nuked Japan because it wanted unconditional surrender and the Japanese were twiddling their thumbs because they wanted the condition of protecting the Imperial family from prosecution, which happened anyway making the nukes completely pointless.

Pyrenean ibex is the first and the only known species to go extinct twice. Originally, they became extinct in 2000, and there were several cloning attempts to resurrect the species afterwards. In 2003, a living specimen was born through cloning, but died 7 minutes after birth due to a respiratory defect, making it the first species to go extinct, be brought back alive, and become extinct again.

Such a majestic animal, too.

Humans are cunts sometimes. Extincting entire species

Taj Mahal built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife's tomb is earthquake proof, its built on sandy soil with unusual base that it pillars can stand an earthquake that may level everything around it.

Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his brute son Aurangzeb who found his father to be too effeminate. He allowed him to be locked up in a cell which had a clear view of the tomb, he died in that cell.
