FA Cup tie abandoned after reports of racial abuse at Haringey Borough v Yeovil

An FA Cup tie was abandoned after Haringey Borough's manager took his team off the field amid accusations of racism, bottle-throwing and spitting.

Home keeper Valery Douglas Pajetat was reportedly spat at and hit by an object thrown from the Yeovil Town end.

Defender Coby Rowe was then "racially abused", according to Haringey boss Tom Loizou, who said, "there was no way I could let him continue".

"If we get punished and thrown out, I don't care," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

The match, played at non-league side Haringey's home ground Coles Park Stadium, was in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup, with the winner set to progress to the first-round proper.

"It's very distressing," said Loizou. "The abuse a few of my players got was disgusting.

3 more incidents occurring over the weekend:

Luton vs Bristol City

Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown says the club will ban any fan found to have used racist language during Saturday's 3-0 Championship defeat at Luton.

Lansdown said he was "shocked and disappointed" to learn of reports of abuse coming from the away end.

An FA Cup tie between Haringey Borough and Yeovil was abandoned on Saturday amid reports of racial abuse by fans, which is being investigated by police.

Lansdown said the Robins were a "family club which celebrates diversity".

In a statement he added: "I can assure our genuine supporters and Luton Town, who have been very helpful, that we are fully investigating these reports.

"We will deal harshly with anyone found behaving in a racist manner and they will be banned from Ashton Gate and from purchasing tickets at future away matches.

"Racial intolerance is not something that we want being associated with our club in any shape or form."

Luton released a statement on Sunday saying they would "support any investigation taking place between Bristol City and the authorities".

It continued: "Hatters CEO (chief executive officer) Gary Sweet has already been in contact with his counterpart at Ashton Gate, Mark Ashton, to express our support and co-operation.

"Like the Robins, Luton Town are a family club that celebrates diversity and inclusion, and will not accept any discriminatory comments or behaviour at our matches."

Ronaldo Vieira racially abused by Roma fans away at Sampdoria

Sampdoria and England Under-21s midfielder Ronaldo Vieira has been the target of monkey chants from Roma fans.

The incident occurred during the 0-0 draw in Serie A at Sampdoria's Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

Monkey chants were audible from the visiting supporters, for which Roma later tweeted an apology.

"I heard it but I don't want to talk about it," Vieira, 21, told Italian TV. "This happens too often, it shouldn't be this way."

Vieira was born in Guinea-Bissau and moved to England at a young age, joining Sampdoria from Leeds in 2018.

This is the latest racist incident to afflict Italian football this season.

A game was briefly suspended when Fiorentina's Brazilian defender Dalbert said he had been racially abused by Atalanta fans, while Roma banned a fan for life for sending racist insults to their own defender Juan Jesus on social media.

Cagliari were cleared of racist chanting towards Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku in a Serie A match, the third time the club have been investigated for alleged racist abuse in the past two years

Morelos allegedly receives racial abuse from Hearts fans

Hearts have opened an investigation after claims that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was racially abused in Sunday's Scottish Premiership draw.

The Colombian was allegedly targeted as he celebrated his equaliser in front of the Hearts supporters at Tynecastle.

Police Scotland say they are unaware of any complaints, with the only arrest made being for a separate incident.

"The club is aware of an incident of alleged racism and is currently investigating it," read a statement.

"It goes without saying that Heart of Midlothian Football Club utterly condemns any form of racism and any individuals found guilty of such an offence will face an indefinite ban from Tynecastle Park."

Man Utd fan allegedly racially abused Liverpool player at Old Trafford

Manchester United ejected a fan from the game with Liverpool for allegedly racially abusing a player who was reported to be Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Old Trafford club says the fan will be banned for life if it is proved an offence was committed at Sunday's game.

A club statement added: "Racism and all forms of discrimination are completely unacceptable and do not reflect the values of our club."

Not often do I commend Man Utd... but well done to them for taking the alleged racial abuse seriously and swiftly beginning their investigation. Also well done to them for swiftly kicking the fucker out of the stadium, and well done to the fans sitting around him that didn't tolerate his bullshit and reported him.

It is noticeable how little comment this has been given from the media. Imagine if it was a Liverpool fan, this would be all over the news. Or Chelsea for that matter.

Seen some other shite on social media of other things that happened on Old Trafford that are perhaps unsavoury but aren't really talked about. But it's not too surprising, there's a huge number of dickheads out there in the world. It's a big match between the two big clubs in the league - you're going to get some jumped up dickheads being... dickheads. And there's stuff that might be distasteful... but at this point if you're a Liverpool fan you've heard it all before from fans from all over the country.

But regarding this racist fan that United were investigating... the investigation is over. He's been given a lifetime ban from Old Trafford for racially abusing TAA. Good on the club & the United fans who reported him for his abuse.

Bulgaria stadium ban for 2 games (1 suspended) ; fined £65k.

Still seems light, for me.

Quote

Bulgaria have been ordered to play two matches behind closed doors - one suspended for two years - for their fans' racist abuse of England players in a Euro 2020 qualifier.

England's 6-0 win in Sofia was stopped twice and could have been abandoned, but the visitors chose to play on.

The hosts already had a partial stadium closure for that match on October 15 because of previous racist behaviour.

Bulgaria have also been fined 75,000 euros (£65,000) by Uefa.

The Bulgaria fans' behaviour included Nazi salutes and monkey chants.

The punishment means they will play their final Euro 2020 qualifying game against the Czech Republic on 17 November in an empty ground.

Anti-discrimination body Fare said it was "disappointed" Bulgaria were not expelled from Euro 2020 qualifying "given their previous record and obvious inability to deal with the problems they face".

"We think the evidence and circumstances of this match would have justified European football being given a stronger signal on the need to tackle racism," it added.

"Obtaining justice for racist acts is not easy in any setting, it is clear that football is no exception.

"We will be in touch with Uefa to explore options and maintain that Bulgaria and others in the same situation fundamentally reappraise how they deal with racism."

England have been fined 5,000 euros (£4,314) after their fans booed the Bulgarian national anthem before the game, while the hosts were fined 10,000 euros (£8,629) for the same offence by their supporters.

Aleksander Ceferin, the president of European football's governing body, said following the match against England that the "football family and governments" needed to "wage war on the racists".

After the game, both the president of the Bulgaria Football Union (BFU), Borislav Mihaylov, and Bulgaria manager Krasimir Balakov resigned.

Authorities in Bulgaria have identified 16 suspects and made 12 arrests since the match.

Four people were fined and given two-year bans, with others remaining under investigation.

In 2015, Croatia were docked a point from their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign after fans marked a swastika on their pitch for a game against Italy, which was behind closed doors.

It doesn't seem like much but at the same time you so have to take into account all the revenue they will loose from not having any fans at the game. More needs to be done though

UEFA just don’t care about dealing with the problem quite clearly

I think they probably do care. I think I its more politics. Because it is a problem in a lot of countries they are worried about being to strict with it and there being repurcutions for uefa.

:(

You beat me to it, just saw this and logged back in to post it, what I bloody can't work out is apparently the ref...

Taison, 31, made a gesture towards the Dynamo fans and kicked the ball at them before the referee took the players off the pitch in the 77th minute.

When they returned five minutes later, Taison was shown a red card.

Shakhtar said both Taison and fellow Brazilian Dentinho were targeted and the Dynamo fans were warned twice.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50369594

Why the fuck did the ref take the teams off the pitch and when they returned he THEN showed the player the red card, that was playing right into the hands of the racist bastards, it would have been better in giving him a lecture and maybe a yellow for kicking the ball into the stands.:40_rage:

I'm surprised he even came back onto the pitch. The red card is irrelevant in my opinion and the fact that none of his team-mates are around him while the opposition are consoling him speaks volumes about the team he represents. I'd take the red and try to find a new employer.

UEFA/FIFA need to start doing things on the pitch versus using that money for adverts against Racism because acts like this just give the fans who promote racism more confidence to continue what they are doing.

Mark Sampson: Stevenage caretaker charged with using racist language by FA

Stevenage caretaker boss Mark Sampson has been charged with using racist language by the Football Association.

The ex-England Women manager, 37, had been subject to an FA investigation since September after an allegation by a former coach at the League Two club.

At the time Stevenage said the allegations had "no foundation".

Sampson was sacked by England in 2017 after evidence of "inappropriate and unacceptable" behaviour with female players in a previous role.

Before his dismissal, Sampson had that year been cleared of wrongdoing following discrimination allegations made by England players, including then Chelsea and Lionesses striker Eniola Aluko.

The FA then apologised to Aluko and England team-mate Drew Spence for Sampson's racially discriminatory remarks after an independent barrister ruled he made unacceptable "ill-judged attempts at humour" on two occasions.

In January the FA reached a settlement with Sampson after an unfair dismissal case.

Former Bristol Academy boss Sampson has been charged with an "aggravated breach" of FA rule E3 and has until 6 December to respond.

According to PA Media, it is alleged the remark was aimed at a player during a conversation about transfer targets.

Sampson replaced Dino Maamria at Stevenage in September, with club chairman Phil Wallace backing him to become their permanent manager despite the Hertfordshire side being bottom of the fourth tier.

Romelu Lukaku & Chris Smalling: 'Black Friday' headline 'terrible' - Roma

_110012583_corriere2.jpg

Roma have said the 'Black Friday' headline used by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport is "terrible".

The headline accompanied pictures of Roma defender Chris Smalling and Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku prior to Friday's match between their two sides.

"The intention of the newspaper article was actually positive," said Roma chief strategy officer Paul Rogers.

"But this headline has to

tally overshadowed the anti-racist message contained within the story."

In a social media post, Inter said: "Football is passion, culture and brotherhood. We are and always will be opposed to any form of discrimination."

Corriere dello Sport defended the "innocent" headline in a comment piece on its website.

"White, blacks, yellows. To negate every difference is the typical massive error of 'the racism of the anti-racisms'," said the editorial.

"The mental rabble of those casual moralists. 'Black Friday', for those who want and can understand it, it was only a way to celebrate diversity.

"If you don't understand, it is because you can't or you don't want to understand."

Inter are the Serie A leaders on 37 points, while Roma are fifth on 28 points.

The article accompanying the headline called former Manchester United team-mates Lukaku and Smalling "the idols of Inter and Roma fans" and that their confrontation would be the "battle inside tomorrow's big game".

It added: "They [Lukaku and Smalling] have learned how to respect each other. They have taken strong stances against racism."

Rogers said: "Unfortunately, as we've seen on social media, more people will see that ill-judged headline on the front page than read the actual article and it creates new issues at a time when we are all trying to tackle the issue of racism in Italian football."

Corriere dello Sport has been asked by BBC Sport for comment.

This is the latest controversy during a season in which Serie A has had to deal a number of incidents of racism.

Only last week, all 20 Serie A clubs have made a united pledge to combat Italian football's "serious problem" with racism because there is no more "time to waste".

In November, Brescia's Mario Balotelli called fans who shouted racist abuse at him "small-minded" and "imbeciles".

Lukaku said the abuse he suffered in September, when Cagliari fans made monkey noises after the Belgian scored a penalty against their team, showed the game was "going backwards".

The Sardinian club were later cleared of racist chanting, leading the head of anti-discriminatory body Fare to say that Italian football authorities and their disciplinary systems to combat racism were "not fit for purpose".

In response to the headline in Corriere dello Sport, Fare said in a social media post that "the media fuels racism every day"
